Launched in 2004, the Aston Martin DB9 is a full-blooded sports car and a hugely capable grand tourer. Avaliable as a coupe or a convertible, the DB9 model was given a facelift in 2008 making the engine even more powerful and the interior to match Aston Martin’s newer DBS model.
The Aston Martin DB9 is a thoroughbred sports car with GT levels of comfort and refinement. The front-to-rear weight distribution of the DB9 is a perfect 50:50, with 85% of the car’s mass sited between the front and rear axles, giving the car superb poise, balance and stability. Inside, the DB9 cabin is focused on the driver, who sits as low and as close as possible to the car’s centre of gravity. Within reach is the centre console with clear, crisp graphics and rotary controls for the heating and air-conditioning system, state-of-the-art audio system, integrated Bluetooth telephone and ultra-quick Hard Disk Drive (HDD) satellite navigation functions.
Powered by a hand-built 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 350 kW (470 bhp/477 PS) at 6000 rpm, the DB9 delivers breathtaking power and performance. The aluminium V12 engine is mounted as far back as possible in a ‘front mid-engined’ layout making the car remarkable lightweight without compromising on power. Transmission options include a rear mid-mounted, six-speed manual gearbox or a rear mid-mounted ‘Touchtronic 2’ six-speed gearbox with electronic 20shift-by-wire control system.
Every element of the interior of the DB9 is hand-made and hand-finished. The soft and supple leather is used throughout the cabin and there is a choice of five wood trims to pick from including Walnut, Mahogany, Bamboo, Tamo Ash and Piano Black.
