In 2006, Aston Martin officially unveiled the V8 Vantage Convertible Roadster. Like its sister model, the Vantage Roadster is a compact sports car that offers an astonishing blend of performance and exhilaration. The Vantage embodies the qualities that are integral to Aston Martin’s vision: ‘Power, Beauty and Soul’ and its unique and innovative design is the essence of pure driving pleasure.
The V8 Vantage is one of the world’s most beautiful cars. The long, low bonnet line and two-seater cabin provide the perfect balance between beauty and sporting intent and the design of the car means it sits low and close to the road. The Vantage Roadster’s soft top roof can be raised or lowered electronically in 18 seconds and can be operated in speeds up to 30 mph (50 k m/h). The 2009 Vantage Roadster features swan wing doors, a leather and Alcantara interior and a zinc alloy center console. It also has a crystal-capped key fob.
At the heart of every great sports car is a great engine, and the V8 Vantage Roadster is powered by Aston Martin’s 313 kW (420 bhp) 4.7-litre V8 engine, developed for both flexibility and outright performance. The V8 also sounds spectacular and is capable of propelling the car to a maximum speed of 290 km/h (180 mph). A 2 0fast-shifting, six-speed manual gearbox is standard and its ratios perfectly matched to the performance of the V8 engine.
Aston Martin’s acclaimed electro-hydraulic Sportshift transmission is available as an option on the Vantage C Roadster. Offering precision gearshifts in around 200 milliseconds, the paddle-operated gearbox brings the sporting driver even closer to the car. When the paddles are 2 0not in use, Sportshift includes a user-selected ‘Auto Drive’ mode that will automatically select the right gear for the conditions. There is also the choice of an optional Sports Pack, which consists of forged, lightweight, five-spoke alloy wheels, revised dampers with an improved dynamic response and uprated springs.
