The Audi A6 was launched in 1994 replacing the Audi 100. The A6 is a spacious executive which competes against similarly sized saloons from BMW and Mercedes – The 5 Series and E Class.
The latest version was released on sale in 2005 and in 2008 has undergone a minor facelift with some minor restyling at the front of the car. A new ultra efficient 2.0 litre common rail diesel engine producing 170bhp is available as well as a detuned ‘e’ version of the same engine which produces 136bhp, achieves over 50mpg and has a co2 emission figure of just 139g/km. The biggest engine revision is an all new 3.0 litre V6 petrol super charged unit developing 290bhp whilst retaining over 30mpg in the combined cycle. Inside the cabin is up to Audi’s usual high standards and interior space is excellent for rear passengers.
Equipment grades follow other Audi vehicles with Standard, SE and S Line trim and Quattro four wheel drive and multitronic gearbox are standard on mant models.
