The Audi Q7 was launched in 2006 and is Audi’s answer to the growing popularity of large four wheel drive vehicles such as the BMW X5, Mercedes M Class, Volvo XC90 and Landrover Discovery. Whist not as adept off road as say the LR Discovery, it is no better or worse than the majority of other luxury SUV’s (Sports Utility Vehicle).
For the UK market the Q7 arrived with the choice of two petrol units – 3.0 V6 or 4.2 V8 and the excellent 3.0 Tdi diesel unit used throughout the Audi car range. With permanent Quattro all wheel drive and a Tiptronic auto gearbox the Q7 remains relatively sprightly despite it’s high kerb weight. The choice trim grade include Standard, SE or S Line specification. As expected from an Audi the cabin is comfortable and stylish with the Sat Nav, Hi-fi Audio and Heating all controlled through Audi’s MMI system (multimedia Interface).
