The BMW 1 Series 5-door is a small sports car produced by the German automaker BMW since 2004. Despite strong competition from rivals such as the Audi A3 5-door, Mercedes B-Class and Alfa Romeo 147, the BMW 1 Series is the only vehicle in its class featuring rear-wheel drive and a longitudinally-mounted engine.
The BMW 1 Series 5-door is as stylish as it is powerful. The long althetic front, dynamic curved rear and frameless doors all emphasise the versatile and sporting temperament of the BMW 1 Series. Inside, the 5-door oozes with BMW’s ground-breaking technology including; Auto Start-Stop - which helps 20reduce both fuel consumption and emission; Optimum Shift Indicator – which conveniently displays which gear you should select to increase fuel efficiency; BMW’s new iDrive - which controls telephone, navigation, entertainment and the communication systems; and Comfort Access – which greets the driver by unlocking the doors and automatically locks by touching the door handle.
Under the hood, the BMW 1 Series 5-door has a choice of three powerful engines including the four-cylinder petrol engine, the six-cylinder petrol engine and the four-cylinder direct-injection diesel engine. The powerful four-cylinder engines impress with outstanding dynamics. The 120i model with manual transmission accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in 7.7 seconds and the BMW 118i takes just one second longer. The six-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 130i advances from 0 to 62 mph in just six seconds and is the only straight six-cylinder engine 20in its class.
Trim levels include the standard 1 Series, ES, SE, Sport and M Sport. The M Sport trim includes M Sports suspension, air conditioning, storage compartments in the front and rear door panels and sun visors with vanity mirrors and ticket pocket. Models include the 116i/d, 118i/d, 120i/d, 130i and 20the 123d.
