In September 2007, BMW debuted the BMW 1 Series Convertible as the latest addition to their 1 Series line-up. Despite strong competition from similar models such as the Audi A3 Cabriolet, Saab 9-3 Convertible and Volvo C70, the 1 Series Convertible’s sporty and individual design have helped make it one of the most popular sports convertibles on the market.
The BMW 1 Series Convertible design is as sporty as it is innovative. Wide horizontal surfaces mee t clear opposite lines, which thanks to the 1 Series sporty character, helps emphasise the Convertible’s attractive and stylish design. On top of the usual BMW groundbreaking technology, BMW have also added extra special touches to make the BMW 1 Series Convertible so special. The Convertible’s soft top closes and opens at the touch of a button in just 22 seconds and with speeds of up to 25 mph. Inside, the optional SunReflective Technology allows the soft leather seats stay up to 25 degrees cooler on those hot days and the innovative climate control can be set to convertible mode for when the soft top is open.
Under the hood, there is a choice of powerful yet economic engines, all fitted with BMW’s EfficentDynamics. In the BMW 135i with 306hp, Twin Turbo and High-Precision Direct Injection are standard. Whilst in the BMW 125i with 218hp, VALVETRONIC helps deliver greater fuel efficiency and an exhilarating performance. A number of transmissions are also available. The smooth running six-speed manual transmission offers short gearshifts and quick gear changes.
Trim levels include ES, SE and M Sport. The M Sport trim includes front sport seats, M Aerodynamic package, M Sports suspension, leather steering wheel and Run-flat tyres with Tyre Puncture Warning System (TPWS)
