First displayed at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show, the BMW 5 Series GranTurismo combines the stylish elegance of a luxury limousine with the flexibility of a station wagon and the versatility of an SAV. Its main rivals are the Volvo V70, Audi A6 Avant and Mercedes E Class Estate.
The BMW 5 Series GranTurismo offers contemporary design features based on classic Gran Turismo tradition. It boasts generous space, luxury ambiance and a choice of efficient BMW engines. The elongated bonnet, long wheelbase, coupé-like, descending roofline and distinctive rear all accentuate the car's dynamic flair. Inside, the BMW 5 Series GranTurismo offers a comfortable lounge atmosphere. During the day the generous panorama roof allows sunlight to fill the cabin, and after dark, ambient lighting creates a pleasant atmosphere to aid occupant comfort.
There is a choice of three engines to choose from including the eight-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 550i, the straight six-cylinder petrol engine in the BMW 535i and the straight six-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW 530d. The eight-cylinder power unit in the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo provides highest level power and performance while at the same time reducing both fuel consumption and emissions to an even lower level. The V8 with TwinPower Turbo technology offers maximum output of 300 kW/407 hp. The straight six-cylinder diesel engine in the BMW 530d boasts a maximum output of 180 kW/245 hp and torque of 540 Nm.
Trim levels include the SE and Executive. The Executive trim includes 18" light alloy Double-spoke style 234 with Run-flat tyres, USB audio interface, Dakota leather upholstery and Park Distance Control (PDC) front and rear.
