Launched in 2001, the BMW X3 is a compact crossover SUV produced by the German automaker BMW. The X3 was the second vehicle to be classified by BMW as a Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) to emphasize its on-road ability. Despite strong competition from rivals such as the Jeep Grand Cherokee, Volvo XC60 and the Lexus RX400h, the X3’s car-like handling, economical diesel engines and BMW-typical range of options allowed the X3 to quickly establish itself in the rapidly expanding market. The X3 became the market leader for SUV’s in Germany for 3 years, outselling even cheaper models such as the Toyota RAV4.

The range topping six-cylinder 30.sd model has a whopping 286hp/210kW and can do 0-62mph in 6.6 seconds – combining economy with performance.
Trim levels include the SE, Sport and M Sport. The M Sport trim includes 18" light alloy wheels, three-spoke M sports multi-function leather steering wheel and M leather gear lever.
The X3 3.0i won the ‘Canadian Car of the Year - Best New Sport Utility Vehicle’ award in 2005.
