The compact C1 is a perfect car for the city – light, nippy and safe. At only 3.43 meters long, it fits into the tinniest of parking spaces. It’s also attractively priced and inexpensive to run.

Very economical and although the boot is small there is enough room for a weeks groceries, we are a family of 4 and there is enough room inside for us. I absolutely love this car and would recommend it to any of my friends. Very reliable even when we had a foot of snow she started 1st time with only a little splutter and stuck to the icy roads very well.
Side impact air-bags as standard (on the Peugeot and Toyota versions you have to pay extra) The handles on the inside of the car are chunky so easy to use (unlike some other cars we looked at with tiny fiddly handles) The seats are very roomy and comfy.
Maybe fit the spare to the underside of the car like they do on the C2 that would free up a bit more room in the boot. Make the car 2 inches wider so a babies stroller can fit into the boot.

I've had my little C1 for over half a year now, its a great run around car, zips petrol so has great range. I opted for the the added Air con and blue metallic pain which I think is the bestlooking colour for the C1. I've also added fog light kit but in hindsight I would recommend leaving it as the fog lights are extremely weak.
Nice easy to use fold down back seats to expand the small boot. I also like the interior design of the panels which are easy to use without looking away from the road.
As mentioned above the official fog light kit is not adequate the light it produces is drowned by the normal main lights so should be much stronger.

I've had this car for a year now and still cant believe how economical it is. Having come from another small car, I wasn't expecting to notice much in the way of a saving, but I was VERY suprised. Tax is just £35 per year and insurance is a laughable £270 p/a (and im only 23) 60+ MPG is a very welcome addition as well. The standard kit isn't bad either for the price, remote central locking, cd player and lots of cubby holes. However its not going to win any races and can be noisey on the motorway. Handles suprisingly well, which has resulted in me suprising a few people in more expensive cars on the twisty bits.
The one thing this small car has a huge amount of is style. I love its bubbly looks and for such a cheap small car I am over the moon with mine.
Best bits are....well to be honest theres too much to list. I was amazed to hear about all the equipment that my car would have! ABS, 2x airbags, air con, power steering, electric windows, ebfd, remote central locking and even csc (Cornering stability control) but above all else the best bit is being able to park in tiny gaps larger cars dont even attempt to get into.
Well I do have a rattle or two, from (i think) the dash, only at high speed though. So maybe the build quality or the level of plastics could be upgraded, although this would obviously have an impact on the price. I also think the car would benefit from better performance, to match the excellent ride and handling. Although considering its a 3 cylinder, 1L engine what you get isn't bad but I'd love to see a larger engine. Or possibly a turbo, as I realise space is an issue.

I've owned my Citroen C1 (3 door, basic spec., petrol engine) since 2006 when I bought it new. And to this day, I love it! This might well have been influenced by the fact that in the 4 years I've had it, I have not experienced a single problem with the car. The C1 is not only cheap to buy but incredibly fuel efficient and I often forget that buying petrol is part of running a car.
For driving in the city, this car is perfect. It's short length and good small turning circle make it easy to manoeuvre (and park!). This is made even easier by the huge rear window which allows a clear view of what is behind you. And it's actually pretty nippy. Although it's exterior is small, the interior somehow feels roomy and there is ample space for 4 grown men.
I highly recommend this car for city use. I doubt there is a more effective car for the purpose. All this is very true but unfortunately it is all probably true of it's 'cousin cars': the Toyota Aygo and Peugeot 107. Having never been in either of these cars I can't say for sure what differences there are between the 3. When I bought my C1 it was the cheapest of the 3, I also felt it had the most character of the three but that's probably a little subjective to make an official decision from.
Personally, if there was no price incentive to get the Toyota or the Peugeot, I would still go for the C1. If you're looking at getting one of the three models, check the spec. well to see which is more suited to you and of course, bargain for them.
- It is cheap to run (both in terms of tax and fuel costs)
- There is room for the driver and 3 passengers, no matter the size of the passengers (within reason of course - and based on human passengers, not elephants!)
- It's small and easy to manoeuvre
- It's reliable
- Although designed for city use, I've driven it to Paris, France from the South West of England with no problems and it can keep up with other cars on a motorway
- Visibility when driving is great thanks to the large amount of window in the car's frame which actually adds to the overall spacious effect from inside
- The iPod jack is standard and a big hit
- Unfortunately, due to the small exterior and efforts to make the inside spacious, the boot is almost redundant it is so small. It would almost be worth getting rid of it all together. There's room in there for a couple of shopping bags and a briefcase/handbag but that's about it. The back seats do fold down though so transporting big objects is still possible.
- The temperature and radio controls at the front of the car are overly plastic which does make the whole car feel a bit cheap if you stare at them for too long (which passengers may do thanks to the entire thing being lit up when the headlights are on.
- The basic spec does not include central locking which feels a little old fashioned for a new car.

This is a really fun car to drive and very economical. Really quirky dash and young looking. Great little car to get around town but also great on long journeys. Plenty of leg room for front passenger and comfortable seating. Good size boot for size of car.
Dash layout is great and easy to use and love the overall look of the car from exterior. Seating is comfortable and great neutral look - somethings Citroen can use really horrid seat fabrics.
Petrol cap can be hard to open and cover for boot comes from little hook and can drop of fingers whilst trying to load boot.

Bought this car from an internet site - before the scrappage scheme (when they started to put list price up). Bargain at £6250 OTR - with no trade in - 3 year warranty (3yr AA incl). Very modern looking, dont think it will look dated for a very long time. Good for comuting and very easy to park as its so small, but not as silly as a smart car. Can easy fit 4 people 5 at push as long as not doing mega long journey, but then its not the sort of car you would buy for that. Good car for the commute journey - nice acceleration when in town - not a motorway car.
You get plenty of miles for your fuel money and the car tax is ammazing!! Insurance is very good - because of my no claims and internet searches I actually insured for less than £100. Also I do a lot of in town traffic - very compact so easy to get into spaces other people ignore.
Front grill - little or no protection to radiator - friend of mine had stone go right through - like a bullet. Hatch door at rear - bit flimsy and the catch seems to only work with a good slam - bit difficult when its all so glassy?

I am a 6 foot 2 man, yet I find the C1 spacious, The C1 truly is a car for everyone. It is sporty looking enough that anyone male or female would look great. It is super economical, and Tx is dead cheap.
MPG, easily get 65-70 MPG out of the car. It looks sporty, and drives sporty. It just feels great to drive.
It really should have standard sized tyres, the unusual size means that you cant buy budget tyres, meaning 4 new tyres will cost you over £200.

Reliable and cheap to run. Very nippy little number. I got this car on a lease for two years and have been really pleased with it. I would certainly recommend this to others to buy or lease. Its great for driving through London. The interior is basic, but it does have an ipod socket which you can plug your ipod in to.
Cheap to run - great for city driving around town. What I love about it is that it is so cheap to run. I hardly every have to seem to fill up with petrol, and I drive it to work every day.
The interior is very basic. I would describe this as the Easyjet of cars. However, if any parents are looking to buy a car for their newly passed driver - this is the one.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
