Ford Mondeo 2.0l zetec

Review by David MacBeath on 28/4/2010

Review

Good size family estate with good all round vision. Adequate power from the 2.0l engine with average fuel economy. Seats a little bit on the hard side on long distances which create an uncomfortable feeling after about 150mls. Car pulls well under acceleration and quite agile for a large family estate car.

Favourite Features

Electric seat adjustment on drivers seat, overhead sunglass pocket is a great feature and Ford should introduce it into all their range, steering column audio controls are a great feature also.

Suggested Improvements

Should have dash light dimmer switch as in Focus. Sunroof options should be expanded to Zetec Models.

Love it

Review

Very pleased with this car as its very reliable and good on petrol and a lovely family car to have. Good on long distances. I would never get another car make again as I have have enjoyed driving this car and the kids love the car to.

Favourite Features

Comfy seats and good departments but need more of them and love the mirrors that have the light on them. Very excellent lighting inside the car, very handy when having a late night out and eating in the car.

Suggested Improvements

Bit more car space inside but then again its still big for what the car is and very long car. My car I would prefer in a different colour. I dont really like the interior desgn would look better without the wood look to it.

Mondeo review

Review

I found this car great on comfort and great on space, however a little hard to park as it can be a little hard to see the rear of the vehicle. I like the look of the Mondeo and find the newer shape really apealing. Great family car.

Favourite Features

Fantastic amount of space - you can fit loads in the boot even without the seats down (double buggy no problems). Very comfortable.

Suggested Improvements

Improved vision through the rear window as parking such a long car can be a bit of a challenge.
Maybe some more clever storage ideas, draws under seats etc for all those kids bits.

Ford Mondeo Estate

Review

This car is a good family car, it has plenty of leg room in the front and back, and as it is an estate version it has a very good size boot with enough space for a family's luggage or shopping. It is comfortable in long journeys. It has a very reliable engine and good safety features.

Favourite Features

My favourite features on this car is the large boot space and comfy seats. It also features front airbags and radio system which has a good sound.

Suggested Improvements

My only suggested improvement would be to have better fuel economy and more interior space for example more drinks holders.

Power just right

Review by Keith Chilvers on 6/12/2009

Review

Was concerned that the 1.6 engine would be underpowered for the size of car. However this only becomes apparent when the rear is fully loaded with items. Good all-round visibility, and good road-handling are real plus points. Fuel economy ok for a largish car, but somewhat poor compared to more recent models. The estate really takes large loads, and have transported various large items of furniture with no problems. One advantage of Ford is that spare parts are readily available, and ebay provides a means of buying direct from importers of cheaper European parts.

Favourite Features

The size of the luggage area is a real plus. Have transported furniture, fridges, etc and is particularly uselful for the holiday luggage of a family of 4 adults.

Suggested Improvements

Probably would have achieved better fuel economy overall with a diesel model. Would like to see some more advanced features such as a larger fit of airbags and heated/cooling seats.

Great Car

Review

Bought the car 12 months ago, already with 48K on the clock, and have to say it is a top notch vehicle. Previously owned a Landrover Discovery and was sick to the back teeth of having to pay out stupid amounts of money each service. With the Mondeo that isnt a problem as all parts are easilly accessible and servicing is cheap enough.

Favourite Features

Car is already loaded as standard with all of the required gadgets and gizmos, it handles a dream and is spacios enough for any flat pack trip to ikea.

Suggested Improvements

that ford make mud flaps that fit as the only ones that I have been able to find are from online traders that custom make them to fit.

Excellent Car

Review by Paul on 6/12/2009

Review

This car has surprised me as I haven't owned a Ford for over 30 years and what a fanastic improvement. This is an excellent car in every sense. It has a good lively diesel engine which has a lot of torque for over taking yet if driven gentle on the motorway can still return 54 MPG.
It is very spacious with an excellent load carrying capacity. The Sony DAB radio with multi CD changer gives a good sound and connects to your phone via bluetooth. The heated seats are suprisingly good. I have never had them before and considered them a bit of a gimmick but no, they are a bity of luxury. The automatically dipping rear view mirror is a bonus to save any glare from headlights behind. No longer do you have to fumble for the lever behind the mirror. It's all done instantly and electronically.

Favourite Features

The cruise control is useful especially when travelling through road works with an average speed camera checks. The Sony DAB radio CD changer works very well with an excellent sound and easy to use controls. The one touch operation on all four windows is a good feature as is the voice activation for climate control, Phone, CD and radio. My wife loves the heated seats on a cold frosty morning. You can feel the difference within 30 seconds long before the heater comes to life.

Suggested Improvements

I would like to see a larger glass area, especially to the rear for reversing. The rear pillars seem thicker than my previous car and appear to restrict the view a little. This is in some ways compensated by having parking sensors both front and back which help no end for parking this large estate car.
I would have liked to see FULL leather seats instead of just leather trimed ones with a cloth centre panel.
