Honda CRV Reviews

Honda CRV

The Honda CR–V gives you the best of both worlds - a high–driving position and 4-wheel drive expected from an SUV and the stability and road handling of a saloon–style ride.

This is one of my dream cars. When I saw it for the first time then only I decided that I wanna have this car. This car is like a gift from God. It has the best ambience inside and a very soothing air conditioner. It has a very smooth driving.

Favourite Features

Smooth driving with a great pick up. Ride is not at all bumpy. This is a very nice car after all it is HONDA CRV. Nice Air Conditioning system and a great heater.

Suggested Improvements

I dont think so that this car requires any improvement. This is a vry great car. And the only improvement which I can think about is that some work can be done for its fuel efficiency.

Big Muscle!

Well I must admit the first time I looked at this car, I just wanted to drive one. It looked just awesome. The curves, the size, the design is just unbeatable. Looks like one big monster coming your way. No doubt there's lot of space inside for all your things.

Favourite Features

The alloy wheels just look fantastic. The interior quality is very nice. The steering wheel is great to look at and the ride quality is also very good. Ofcourse all these things will be there, because its a Honda!

Suggested Improvements

At high speeds, the car is little difficult to handle. firstly, it doesnt go above 160, and even at that speed, you have to be rock hard to handle it.

My Honda CRV

What to say about Honda CRV. Its really cool. From comfort to exterior looks it make me feel special. The steering wheel mounted control is a fun loving thing. There is sufficient free space inside which gives a different type of comfort to our mind specially to me :). I'm really loving it.

Favourite Features

Alloy rims gives it a royal look. 5 Speed manual transmission with four cylinders is a nice thing and air conditioning is too cool :P.

Suggested Improvements

Engine capacity should be increased. There is no automatic turn on lights feature which makes me feel bad. I wanna fly with my CRV but it never crosses 160 km/hour line this is one more bad thing.

Honda CR-V 2009

Review by Mark Walden on 27/4/2010

Review

We bought the CR-V in April 2009, swayed to a large part by the fantastic deals that Honda were offering on this model (better it turned out than the Goverment's Scrappage Deal that was announced a week after we signed the deal). Discounts in the order of £4k and a 3 year 0% finance deal.

Our previous car was a standard estate model, and we wanted to keep the load space of an estate, but with a more comfortable interior (at the time we were making frequent trips to Ireland from the UK - about a 400 mile trip each way). The CR-V offered this. I think that the deal was done when the dealer showed us how to recline the front and rear seats into a Chaise Longue type of thing (beware - this is not possible with the electric seats on the top spec model).

We have now owned the car for a year and the first service has just come up at 12500 miles. We opted for the 5 year service pack so I don't know what this actual service cost. The car has been 100% reliable. While not the most exciting vehicle on the road, the drive is good for an SUV and always feels solidly rooted to the ground. It has been driven very hard on one or two occasions and never left us wanting for more. Economy is good for this type of model (comparable with the 10 year old diesel estate that it replaced), though when driven hard the economy does drop off alarminly. That said, it is normally used just to ferry our two young children about. View of the road ahead is impecable, rear view for reversing is limited, but then it does have parking sensors on front and rear. All round, worth the money we paid for it.

Favourite Features

The good view of the road. On steering wheel controls for radio/CD player and cruise control. Foldable wing mirrors (essential for parking in tight spaces), Six speed gearbox. Ample lockers, bins, and drinks holders around the cabin. Reclining rear seats.

Suggested Improvements

Boot lid is shaped so that when it's raining the water rolls off onto anyone trying to put stuff into the boot. Actually the boot lid could ideally open a little higher (I'm 6'1" and have hit the open lid a few times). Also the distance between rear and front seats is a little tight for today's modern child seats (we normally have the passenger seat pulled slighty forward as a result), even with the rear seats as far back as they go. No roof rails. You need a special roof bar that fits into the roof rather than just bolt standard bars onto rails.

My Honda CR-V

Review

Out of all the cars I have owned, and I have owned quite a few, this is one of the best. It is not only lovely to drive but also accomodates my three children comfortably. The large boot is of substantial size enabling the back seats to recline fully. This is very handy for long journeys. I would certainly say that this car is perfect for large families.

Favourite Features

Favourite features include: large boot; clever drawers under the seats for extra storage; handbrake on dashboard near the steering wheel, freeing up space for storage.

Suggested Improvements

I am quite petite, and would really like the seat to adjust to my height, but than using cushions to give me that boost.

My lovely Honda!

Review

I have owned 2 Honda CR-V's now and love them for their reliability and style as well as their comfort for my older children in the back. They are a smaller option of the 4x4 which is great for women. The 4x4 kicks in when needed without having a secondary gear box, so is ideal on slippery back roads in rural Wales where I live.

Favourite Features

I love my built in satelitte navigation and cd player which is great quality. I also love the seat heaters in the front in winter and the air conditioning!

Suggested Improvements

Improvements for me personally would be more leg room in the front passenger side as several people have commented on the lack of this.

My Honda CRV

Review by Darren Pluck on 7/12/2009

Review

I've owned this car since new seven years ago and it still runs like a dream. Obviously a little of the power has drained over the years but it's still a more than competent car. I've had the odd problem with the car here and there but, on the whole, it's been plain sailing. It's a really comfortable car to drive and I would highly recommend this 4 wheel drive ahead of any of the others of this era that I test drove.

Favourite Features

The mini fridge was a novelty at first but hasn't really been used. The collapsible table between the two front seats has proved invaluable, and the opening back flap in the rear view window has proved useful.

Suggested Improvements

The car tends to rattle a little when the windows are open and travelling at high speed, this tends to get a little annoying on hot days on the motorway.

Very Reliable

Review by Nick James on 7/12/2009

5DR 2.0 VTEC EX

Review

Excellent car, very good driving position and road position. Very reliable and reasonable amount of pace for a 4x4 without breaking the bank when it comes to economy. Typical Honda build quality which is very good, cabin materials could be better though.

Favourite Features

Fully loaded with every concieveable extra, viewing of road from driving position is excellent, economy is good.

Suggested Improvements

Could be more exciting to look at, comfort for long distance driving could be better and the cabin could be more exciting to sit in, a bit plastickey.

A good road runner

Review by Lutfur on 6/12/2009

Vehicle

5DR 2.0 VTEC ES

Review

Like it says in the title, a good road runner. Reliabilty is good because I think its a Chinese make car anyway. A car that can be used for day to day basis for travelling long distances or just a quick nip to the supermarket.

Favourite Features

Ok lets talk about good features - its comfortable to sit in and steering is good and responsive. Space inside the car is good and there is enough leg room in the back.

Suggested Improvements

The petrol it consumes is a bit - it could consume less fuel and interior plastic could be made with better plastic.

My Gorgeous Hamish

Review by Judy Mackenzie on 6/12/2009

Vehicle

5DR 2.0 VTEC SE

Review

I love my Honda more than any other car I have ever owned and I think he is number 20 or 21.
Hamish (full name 'Hamish Silvery Horse Lovely' - thank you kids...) has all the room I need for me, my husband, two children, a tepee and all the camping equipment we need. We do have a roofbox, but have never used it as we've never had to. I also use him to ferry students about and he easily accommodates three strapping teenagers in the back.

I love the torque which allows me to effortlessly negotiate the slippy, hilly country lanes that compose my daily commute, but most of all I love the variable 4 wheel drive that is so helpful when driving through snow, ice or muddy lanes. If I replace Hamish it will be with Hamish Mk II, another Honda CRV.

Favourite Features

I love the height of the vehicle and the good all round visibility. There is loads of space inside and the back seats are easy to put down, for trips to the dump. If I need to reuse my husbands bike, then the back seats move independantly, so I can still have a child one side and the bike the other.
Most of all I love the variable 4 wheel drive. I do not need constant 4 wheel drive, which would cost me a fortune in additional fuel costs, but I do want the reassurance of knowing that it will click in, if I skid on an icy muddy lane. Oh yeah, and the picnic table in the back - very cool and really useful.

Suggested Improvements

My one huge criticism is the cost of having my back brushes in my widgetty thingee at the back end replaced. I've been told that in most cars these cost between £3 - £70 to replace, but ours are £400 each, as the whole sealed unit needs replacing, plus VAT and 5 hours labour. I cannot justify spending that amount on a car as old as Hamy, as I don't even know how long a new set might last, so I will probably replacing him with a new car in the new year, Apparently this is not a design fault (just an exceptionally expensive routine maintenance cost) but it is no longer the same on newer models. Hmmmm. I would also like to see some more little storage nooks and crannies.
