I've had my Carens for just twelve months now and I'm very happy with it. I have driven automatics before but this is an excellent drive. Due to my disability I had to have the parking brake changed to a hand operated one which again was a success. I have no qualms in recommending the Carens to anyone. All the controls are easyily accessable, great allround visibility especially with the large wing mirrors. It handles really well and doe not put too much pressure on me when driving it. The large seats mean great comfort and support. I have arthritis in my spine but can safely say that I am almost always comfortable. There is loads of space inside for luggage etc especially with the 2 rear seats folded down.
The large sofa type seats are super comfy. Great all round visibility. Plenty of oomph from the very smooth engine and a very good and smooth gear change. Excellent dash design and console components. Good air conditioning. Good suspension and handling.
Improve the air conditioning to climate control as standard. Fit a cruise control as standard. Make it so the radio works without the ignition having to be switched on. Fit puddle lights to the mirrors. Make the drivers window one touch close as well as opening. Make the ignition key a foldaway one incorporating the remote into it.

THIS IS THE SECOND KIA CARENS I HAVE OWNED, THE LATEST MODEL IS A HUGE IMPROVEMENT ON THE PREVIOUS MODEL, AND WITH THE 5 YEAR WARRANTY IS AN EXCEPTIONAL PURCHASE, WOULD BUY AGAIN. I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE FOR 18 MONTHS FROM NEW, AND HAS NO PROBLEMS AT ALL. APART FROM A SINGLE SERVICE, HAS NOT COST ME A PENNY
WITH 7 SEATS IT CAN ACCOMODATE ALL THE GRAND CHILDREN. WOULD NOT BE WITHOUT THE AIR-CON IN SUMMER. GREAT STYLING AND SAFETY FEATURES.
THE NEXT TIME I WOULD GO FOR THE DIESEL MODEL. I FIND THAT THE 2.0 LITRE ENGINE TO BE RATHER THIRSTY AROUND TOWN, AND ONLY MANAGE TO GET ABOUT 28 MPG ON A RUN.

It gets me from A-B, which is all I really look for in a car. Spacious inside, perfect with 2 young kids. The electronic feature are handy (wing mirrors, heated windscreen). It drinks petrol like a fish, but it's automatic and they do.
Heated windscreen rules on a frosty day, you have no idea how handy this is. Stupidly I didn't have one in mine untill the windscreen had to be replaced, so now I have one.
The stereo compartment is awful for fitting anything other than the original stereo. I had to replace mine as it was broken. I bought a standard sony stereo and it is to big for the whole, meaning I had to do a 'bodge' job to get it in. Not ideal.

A lot of car for little money. Had the car a year now, no problems to speak of, nice driver and very good on diesel. Mine's only a 1.5 but very pokey and leaves my wifes Focus standing. Only £120 for a service so a very cheap car to run. Central locking, air con, alloys - what more do you want out of a car? Just get over it being a Kia and you will be very surprised.
How fast the little car is - leaves most Ford's and Vauxhall's in a dust trail. Will sit at 90 all day, nice, light and comfortable.
Nothing I can think of - except mine has the light coloured seats!

I bought a brand new Carens and I had more problems with it than I could of ever imagined. It had immobiliser problems at 4 days old, not starting with the ignition key. I had 3 out of 4 ABS sensors go faulty and had to be replaced. The boot where the spare wheel is kept filling up with water and this caused the boot and wheel to rust due to the water build up (this was down to KIA wiring in the towing bracket and wiring to tow a trailer or caravan, yes Kia had drilled holes in the bodywork where water ran down the rear of the bodywork and this then ran into the boot area). The road wheels are noisy and the noise gets too much to bear when travelling over 60 mph on motorways.
The air con kept vehicle cool in hot weather. The warranty cover of 5 years is good, and there is also a paint warranty, but this is now available from most other car dealers if you ask about it.
Big improvements are required to help prevent the breakdowns happening regularly. Kia could not fix my car to run more than two weeks constantly. I owned a brand new car that Kia had more than I had it. I suggest more is done to improve the noise off the road wheels and vibration felt in the vehicle when driving it. Let a professional tow-bar fitter fit the tow bar but check it won't affect the warranty as i was informed at the time of purchase, that if the tow bar was NOT fit by a KIA approved garage, then the warranty on the vehicle would be void.
