The Picanto upholds Kia’s long time tradition of affordable vehicles. However where this car differs is that Kia seem to have payed far more attention to detail and build quality.
The car would struggle fitting three in the back, but the Picanto has an amazing amount of room inside considering how small it is.
The Picanto is inexpensive to purchase and run, and is mechanically sound and should prove to be reliable, as well as cost efficient.
Since the radio is a 3rd party one and not actually produced by Kia at times it can seem very fiddly. To improve perhaps implement a more user friendly radio system?

I have a red Kia Picanto 1.1 Glamour, which was a special edition model with little extras such as alloy wheels and air conditioning. I've had it for just over two years and it is my favourite car ever. It's cute, it's great for town driving, it's cheap to run and it has never, ever let me down. It has plenty of room for four passengers and five at a squeeze, with a small boot space.
I love the fact that I can easily fit four people in this small car. The split rear seat is handy for that bigger load of shopping. It is also very economical to run and to maintain, and it has been extremely reliable.
I'd like to see a bit more boot space to avoid having to put the split rear seat down whenever I have a large amount of shopping to carry.

My car has done both motorways and local trips in the 5 yrs since new. We have averaged 55mpg good reliable car. Bad if you need to change a head or side light - you need to take it to a garage. The hand brake is prone to wear.....
MP3 stereo is easy to use and air con. Is very cheap to run. We only dropped 1mpg on a 200 mile trip...
Better handbrake mechanism, the rear caliper had to be replaced for first MOT, and both since...
so every year because the handbrake part fails.

It looks beautiful. It is a car that is meant for me and my family. It comes in various colours that so much interest me, but my favourite colour is black because it make me noticeable in it. It also has the ability to cover a long distance at a shorter period of time.
My favourite features for this car is the speed at which it runs, the looks on it, easy to operate, easy to repair.
For me there need to be improvement on the interior design. Also on the exterior design. There should also be improvement on the performance of the car.

I bought my Kia brand new in 2007. I had just split up from my partner, and with not having a man around I needed a reliable car to get me to work, without breaking down, so I decided to buy new. Without much cash to spend, I chose a Kia Piccanto, I did want a red one, but had to settle for black! I bought the basic model, but wish I had spent the extra and had electric windows, central locking and air conditioning, now!
I have had my car over 2 years now, and have never had a problem, it has been totally reliable. Apart for one service, I haven't had to spend a penny on it. Being the basic model it doesn't have many features, but I love it because it is so nice to drive, and really easy to park.
As I have only got the basic model, the only improvements I would suggest are having more features fitted as standard i.e electric windows, central locking, and air conditioning, as it is very basic without!

I recently purchased a brand new Kia Picanto based on the figures claimed for fuel economy (a combined mpg of 57mpg is claimed by Kia). However, I have to say that the figures in reality come no where near that. I have run the car for about 9 months now and have yet to get anywhere near that figure irrespective of the type of driving I have done. The actual figures that this car returns is nearer a consistent 43mpg. The only way you will get better economy from this vehicle is if you start stripping the vehicle of its equipment (back seats, front electric windows, spare wheel) and run it everywhere on quarter of a tank of fuel, switching off the engine at traffic lights and coasting down any hills you travel along... seriously.
I have pointed this out to Kia and asked for a refund as the vehicle was misold to me (as the vehicles description was innaccurate), but needless to say I am still waiting for a reply!
Favourite features? Well, it is comparatively cheap to insure and cheap to tax and I suppose its quite a nice looking car. There is enough room for even a big fella like me to drive it, though it lacks any real refinement. Stereo is ok but not by any means great. The car handles nice on bendy bits of road which is always good for people who want to make it to the other side of bends (like me)
Erm, a bit more oomph would be nice (for people who actually want to stray from the centre of town and drive on those dual carriageway or motorway thingys) also, if it was able to overtake tractors as well as vicars on bicycles it would do a lot for my street cred too.
Better speakers for the stereo would be nice. Central Locking and an alarm would also be a good idea. Electric windows front AND back would be good, and a heated front windsreen would be a nice touch. Apart from that, for goodness sake, it is a 1.0 litre car that can only return 43mpg!!! IMPROVE THE FUEL ECONOMY KIA!!!!.... failing that, my money back would suffice.

Although my car is not a stylish boy racer type of car, it is ideal for me. I am among the older population so have no need for added extras. It is extremely good on petrol, nippy around town, easy to park and has good visibility. It doesn't have central locking but that's O.K. by me, just means a smaller bill if it goes wrong. It doesn't have a lot of sophisticated security devices but it doesn't need them as it's not top of the list for cars targeted by thieves. If it has one fault it's the size of the boot, it could be a bit bigger.
This car gives a very comfortable ride and the height from the road seems more than other cars making it easier to get in and out.
One thing I would like to see changed on this car is the size of the boot. It will take my small amount of shopping but anything bigger I have to put on the back seat.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
