As with any Lexus, you can totally count on the reliability of the car. It is fantastic to drive, with the speed and good looks that you want, coupled with the fact that it's also great for the kids. Although I have heard other say the boot is small, I didn't find that to be the case. I though there was plenty of space to fit many a shopping trip in comfortably. I absolutely love the Lexus, I'm sure any model would be fine. The comfort of the car is also phenominal. The seats hug you as you drive and it truly is like sitting in an armchair. The 'snow' button was aslo a godsend this winter with all the snow that we had. It did exactly what it said on the tin and was fantastic in the snow, preventing me from skidding and helping the car off to a start in the first place. Good looks and reliability mixed in with a dollop of power, it can't go wrong.
The look of the car is fantastic. Stand at the front and look at the sleek lines as it smiles at you. It has a look of speed, yet is also a great family car. The sound system is also faultless, with a 6 disc CD changer, without having to go into the boot to change the CD's and the quality of sound that comes from the speakers is awesome. Again, great for long journeys to keep all the family entertained. The comfort of the seats is fantastic also. You really do feel like you're sitting in an armchair. I can't fault the quality of build, speed and looks of the Lexus IS, I would recommend it to anyone.
I think that a hatchback version could be a bonus, as sometimes it is useful to be able to drop the seats to get larger items in. Apart from that, I really cannot suggest any improvements. The car is a fantastic piece of machinery and is well worth the money. They may be quite pricey, but they are well built and I'm sure that it is a car that would suit any individual. There should also be an option of a smaller engine size as the car does gobble up petrol pretty quickly. It does not go far on a full tank. Put your foot down and you will see the petrol gage rapidly dropping.

The first-ever diesel engine in the Lexus range. While it's a big step forward compared to the car it replaces, the IS's cabin doesn't feel particularly special. The control layout is sensible enough and we like the fact that the major function control buttons are big and easy to see. But the sparkly plastic on the upper console feels distinctly Toyota-ish - a soft-feel "slush'" surface, deployed elsewhere in the cabin, would have been nice here, too.
It's comfortable, though, with multi-adjustable seats and a wheel that electrically adjusts for reach and rake. It's a cocooning, enveloping feel especially for the driver, with a low seating position and that bluff, upright instrument panel rising in front.
The chassis is hugely accomplished, with body control up there with the best, along with steering feel and feedback that is intuitive and natural, even though this is an electrically assisted setup. The only downside is a low-speed ride that feels a bit too firmly damped.
For many buyers, the fact that the IS 220d offers a stylish alternative to the default German brigade will count for enough to overcome any concerns over refinement (and the lack of an automatic gearbox).
We're just disappointed that, having set the bar so high, Lexus has faltered in the one arena where we've come to expect a perfect 10 - there is no automatic gearbox option.

My partner and I bought this as our first car together and both are delighted with it. I was unsure to begin with, but have grown to love it! Extremely comfortable, plenty of room in the back for kids (whenever that time comes!) and a very roomy boot! I had a never driven a diesel car before but again, have grown to love it!
The luxurious, heated leather seats - very comfy and cosy for ther cold winter mornings, the power when you put your foot down - fantastic compared to my last car - a Vauxhall Astra, and the elegant look of the car from the front! Lots of handy cup holders everywhere!
I dont think there is anything that can be improved on in this car! It is beautiful, elegant, comfortable, stylish and perfect for a family car when we decide to have a family!

The most reliable car and best built car anywhere. It has never broken down in the 7 years I had it. Starts everytime. The stereo from the 8 speakers system is just awesome. It is better than a lot of home Hi-Fi system. On the motorway, it has plenty of pulling power. The only downside is the higher than average mpg from the 3 litre straight 6s. It doesn't have the 0-60 time of the current crop of executive saloon but who cares when it is only 1 to 2s slower than the latest 3 litre 3 series.
Reliability is top notch, the HID headlight turns night into day. The built quality is 100%, the gap between doors is better than any current crop of executive saloons. Closing the door still thud with a solid sound. Cornering is a joy with the rear drive.
MPG and tyres needs improvement. Driving on the motorway and the IS300 will sip petrol but driving in the city it develops a drinking habit. The 17th tyres is too wide for UK 's crappy roads. The suspension a little bit too sporty and hard for the UK roads. Perfect on the motorway and to throw into a smooth country lane, but driving around pot holed streets and speed humps of UK is just too hard.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
