This is our 2nd Mazda and the driving experience is consistently good. Nice shape and real fun to drive. After test driving the Toyota Aygo the comparison is a no brainer. This doesn't feel like a cheap small car and you get air conditioning included.
Seat comfort. Air con. Dashboard display and the high centrally located gearstick. Small steering wheel.
Glove box opening latch; interior finish is easily scratchable. Seat covering could be more robust.
Heating control dial icons not easily visible.

I bought this car on the Government scrappage deal so it was definitely a bonus to receive £2000 off the purchase price. The car itself is definitely worth the full price though - alloy wheels, air conditioning, leather steering wheel and gear stick, i-pod compatible. I really love this car - its nippy but not scary fast, and small enough so I can actually park it pretty much anywhere! I would say its great on the petrol for long distances, but going around town on short trips does use a lot of fuel in my opinion. Apart from that - lovely!
The air conditioning is a definite bonus - something i've never had in a car before, so i'm really enjoying that at the moment. And the cd-changer is great too - really convenient! I also love the automatic wing mirrors.
I really don't know how this car could be improved - maybe put windows in the back seat though that actually open. I don't sit in the back often, but when i do its quite claustrophobic as the windows are tiny.

Small and efficient run around. The space inside is more than adequate, although due to the added space ,the aerodynamics mean that the acceleration and top speed are not that impressive. The reliability of the car is excellent as I have had no problems with it over the last 5 years.
The space inside and the reliability of the car are by far its best attributes. The exhaust also makes it sound like the 1.3 litre is bigger than it actually is.
The aerodynamics could be improved, which should help fuel economy, the acceleration and the top speed.

So, the Mazda2 was the the winner of Car of The Year 2008. It certainly looks more sporty, attractive, young and fresh than its previous incarnation and is loaded with features that other marques of a comparable pricepoint lack. Compared to its biggest rival (the Toyota Yaris 2), the Mazda 2 is a supermodel. It could also be argued that the three doors is better than five doors. But it is not just what they look outside. The interior has been carefully designed. This is a car that punches far above its wight when it comes to loos.
MP3 dock is great, I like the inbuilt stereo too. The handle in the boot for "shorter" people is a neat idea, and the car itself is really good looking.
I'd like to see a better mechanism for adjusting the front seats and perhaps inbuilt satnav.

This car is shorter than it appears, great for getting into parking spaces. Very comfortable inside. Gear stick has great positioning. Visibility from all windows excellent. One of the best small cars in the crash tests. Good size boot for a little car. Great to drive, takes corners well. VERY economical.
This is a great car to drive. Has great handling. I based my purchase on watching hours and hours of the crash tests and the fact this is the best rated car in its class for the ability to sustain a crash. It is incredibly economical and I love the fact I hardly have to put diesel in. Its cute, it has great visibility.
Of all the cars I have ever had I could list one thing after another. With this car I have struggled to find anything to improve. For the price its a great strong car. It is very cheap to service.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
