What can I say about this car that hasn't been said before? It fits each bill and ticks every box. The best handling this side of an Elise. Sure footed yet fun. Enough grip to be reassuring in all conditions, but not so much as to prevent a little fun when needed. Power is up on the old models thanks to the ford sourced units. Free reving all the way to the redline. A crisp note makes spirited driving more pleasurable. Brakes strong and well judged. The interior is as much an improvement over the MK2 as the MK2 was over the MK1. Not sure if you need 4 cup holders. But the fit and finish is up there with the best in class. Boot space is more than enough for a weekend shop or a weekend away. Boot racks are available for those longer touring holidays. But of course the real fun begins as the clouds part and the sun beams down. Drop the hood with a single flick lower it one handed and take in the full imax experience. Mid life crisis? Buy this. Just two of you? Buy this.
Hell just buy this anyway.
The Roof is still the best in the class. Nothing fancy and nothing to go wrong. Undo a catch flip back and bask in the british sunshine. Easy to raise from the drivers seat when the rains return. Handling is top drawer stuff. Perfect weight and feel to the steering. All round practicality is unsurpassed in this class. Thanks to having a proper hood not a folding boot filling metal hard top. The hard top roadster coupe is just as good for the urban owner, who needs the extra security.
A sportier exhaust note would be more in keeping with its classic sports car aims. Radio is not as good as others in class. The Bose option really should be standard. Seat height adjustment really would improve the driving position even more. Mazda take note fewer cup holders, four cartons of starbucks finest is more than can be safely drunk. Two is plenty.

Number 1 roadster, makes every journey a pleasure with a feeling of being as one with the car and road. It feels secure as you hug the tightest corner, and immediately responds as you accelerate. Taking the roof down gives an unparallelled sense of enjoyment and fun. Life is not complete until you have experienced the MX5 thrill.
Spirited drive, suberb cornering. Ease of taking roof up and down. Heated leather seats. Bose stereo. Iconic styling.
Absolutely nothing, perfect, fun driving experience! The only thing that would enhance the experience would be more sunny days for the roof down thrill, and more twisting roads to experience the driving thrill.

I have a Mazda MX5 and I love it, it has the hideaway pop up headlights and in the Mazda blue, its comfortable to sit in and great to drive. Its doing about 38mpg which is good around town and it gets a little damp if it rains but if you get one thats been treated well and you do the same then very little goes wrong. Blue is the nicest colour and instantly recognisable as a MX5, just be gentle with it and it will serve you well after all they are still being made arent they.
Colour, blue is the best, you can see its a mazda from miles away. The pop up lights, very cool, the bucket seats are really comfy and feel good under your bottom and nice for long journeys. The ease of swapping from hard top to soft top, this is really easy although the hard top is a little heavy and awkward if you are not very strong and then you have to find somewhere to leave it but worth it.
I would seat the seatbelts somewhere else for easier reaching, you almost have to be a contortionist to get them around you in the position they are in now. I would definately have quarter lights that open either by hand or electric and I would change the flashers so they are red not orange wired to the brake lights, when they are flashing orange and parked no-one knows if you are moving out from parking or not.

This car is great for the single gal about town. Good for short journeys - especially through city centres. The boot is deceptive in its volume. During the summer with the top down its great down country roads. It may use up the petrol a little fast but well with it for the smooth and fast journeys. Only real problem I've had is with the brakes - they have needed work twice in just a year which can be a bit pricy. Mine has a sports spoiler on the boot which means it doesn't stay open which can be a bit dangerous.
Those heated seats are a must - it means you can drive with the top down on dry but cooler days. The boot is bigger than lost sports cars.
Would love the roof to be automatic as it does become a real pain having to open and close, as you really need to get out of car and carefully place it down or you can damage the window, and also you have to have the windows down to put the roof back up or its too tight. Would also like the boot to stay open and not slam shut. Also would prefer the read boot spoiler not to rattle when you reach 60 miles per hour.

I have had my car now for 2 years and I can honestly say that it is the best vehicle I have ever had. Road handling is a breeze and it is nippy around the city roads. The fold back roof is the quickest on the market, so even when the weather turns its able to easily fold back into position. A tidy boot space considering some of it is used to accomodate the roof.
The slick lines on the car help reduce petrol consumption andbeing low down gives you the impression that you are speeding along far faster than you actually are.
My favourite features are the fold down roof which when down you still feel enclosed and protected from the weather. The tidy boots space is adequate for a small 2 seater vehicle and the lockable stowaways are an added bonus. The economy of fuel consumption is a real winner with todays costs.
Move the release catch for the petrol cap. Add a built in sat nav system and have tinted windows as standard. Increase the sound system to allow for the roof to be down and still be able to hear the radio/cd function clearly.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
