A Great Car

Review

It has incredibly responsive steering and a wonderfully taut chassis. Front grip is astonishing. Complete with perfect cornering balance that allows you to push the MINI right to its lofty limits with no fear, you feel ever secure in this car.

Favourite Features

Simple and speedy to convert from closed up roof to wind in your face, all within a matter of seconds.

Suggested Improvements

When the roof is down, there is always a slight and noticable scuttle shake. To come up with a solution to this would be a fantasic improvement.

My Mini

Review by Laurie Smith on 3/12/2009

The Mini Cooper Convertible 1.6 2dr is a really great drive and my pride and joy. I paid around 11K for the pleasure and haven’t regreted it. Its quite a fuel effiecient car costing around £10 for about 100 miles. The joy of riding around with the top down is second to none.

Favourite Features

My favourite feature on this car has to be the fact that its a convertible. Nothing beats riding around with the top down. Also the very shape and style of the car are quite flash.

Suggested Improvements

To improve this car I would like somehow slightly more room in the back. The front seats are more comfortable than the rear. Also the rear visibility could be improved as at times much appears obscured.

Mini

It was mine and my sisters car after I passed my driving test, it was easy to drive for me as it was small and easy to drive and park, just when I was getting used to driving on my own. My sister was using my car often to have some practice and she said it was a lot better than her old Corsa. It is small, handles well, comfy and spacious. Good car, a lot better than other ones similar size

Favourite Features

Mini is small, looks lovely, comfy to sit in, either as a passenger or a driver, has electric windows, fits in very little spaces, so nice to have it if you are a new driver, very reliable. Does not cost much to get tax and insurance for it, so it is worth recommending.

Suggested Improvements

There is not much space at the back for passengers and their legs, especially not recommended for tall people. Back window seems a bit small, bit difficult when you have to look through it when reversing.

Mini Adventure

Review by Anna on 2/12/2009

Review

The mini is a quirky little car, beautifully designed both inside and out with a dash of nostalgia thrown in for good measure. It drives well, and almost feels like your whizzing along in a go-kart. However don't buy this car if you can't reverse with your eyes closed, because thats literally what the visibility is like through your rear window.

Favourite Features

This car is beautiful to drive and grips the road really well. And lets be honest, part of the fun of buying a mini is being seen as a mini driver isn't it!

Suggested Improvements

Just a little bit of visibility through the rear windows would be nice, just enough to be able to reverse. And I wouldn't buy it if you're regularly going to have back seat passengers as well.

Mini Convertible

Review by D Cohen on 2/12/2009

It's a great looking car, both inside and out. It's fun to drive and nippy around town. It's at its best when the weather is good and you can drive around with the roof down.

Mine is the Mini One version with no extra add ons, but then I don't think they are necessary and the basic car is fun and funky all on it's own with no flashy extra bits.

Although it is classed as a four seater, you can really only squeeze two adults and two small people in there. Also the boot is really small, so you may end up with your weekly shopping on the front seat. The roof opens up fully in about 15 seconds. Pressing a button, you first open the roof partway as a sunroof and then by pressing again the complete roof folds down. With the roof folding to the rear, the roof columns are automatically retracted and the rear side windows move down at the same time.

As standard it comes with lots of gadgets and safety features. Including ABS, front and side airbags ISOFOX child seat preps, CD player, electric windows and roof and many more.

Although there are similar size convertible vehicles out there, I think the Mini beats them hands down. And it barely depreciates!

Overall, it is joy to drive and although it may be small it is perfectly made.

Favourite Features

The convertible roof!! Although living in a country where it rains 11 months out of 12 you don't get to put the roof down an awful lot. The roof works in 2 ways, you press the button once and you get a sun roof, press again for a few more seconds and it folds down completely.

Suggested Improvements

The only minor thing I can find fault with is the location of the cigarette lighter. It's located right under the radio and I find it difficult to plug in my SatNav. Other things I don't like seem to have been modified with newer versions of this car (eg lowered roll bars).
