First I had a blue mini and now I have a red one. And yes, I do want a yellow one next! I expect you have guessed that I am female and so the colour and the look is all important to me....I have no interest in what's under the bonnet! For me, the mini looks good and says something about the kind of person I am....hopefully that I have a sense of humour and a bit of a wild side! The mini looks good inside and out and with all the little extras that you can choose to customise the car it is not hard to see why it is so adorable. And to drive? Fab! Drives like a dream. Would love a Cooper so could have a bit more power but you get what you pay for. There’s much more space in the back than most people think....and if you don’t regularly carry people in the back as I don’t then the back seats can be permanently down and form a really roomy boot. I have even managed to bring 2 children, their luggage and musical instruments home from boarding school in mine! The new BMW minis may not be the originals but they still have lots of stlye!
My favourite features of the mini are it’s stylish curves, particularly the headlamps at the front. I also love the fact that Mini drivers are really friendly and often will wave at each other, although perhaps this is becoming less common now there are more minis on the roads. The colour choices are also part of what I like about the mini range and I find it very hard to choose. I think the variation in the brand is also cool. The Clubman is eccentric whilst the Cooper S is totally wicked sporty. The One is a little bit ordinary but it is way more special than the other cars in its class and price bracket.
It’s difficult to find suggested improvements when I have just had to write about how wonderful the car is! But I will try! On the Mini One some of the interior is a bit plasticky.....it could certainly be more classy but then that option is there if you choose it. The covering on my steering wheel is flaking off which isn’t nice and is disappointing. I also find that the clock is pretty rubbish and it loses time constantly....to the point when I have to reset it every Monday morning to make sure I am not late for work that week!

The car is modern and stylish. They are still very desirable and so have a high residual value. For a small car it is very punchy, thanks to the 1.6 engine. The build quality is very good, as you would expect from BMW/Mini. However compared to 3 Series BMW's it is very obvious Mini spent a lot of money of the interiors, but you do spend much of your time inside the car. The car is a pleasure to drive. As it's a small car you might expect it to be a good city car, but I find it eats petrol in the city and with the current petrol prices (2010). It is expensive to run, so bare that in mind. As it has a 1.6 engine (for me a female driver) I find it a great motorway car. Like I said the car is well built and very sturdy. It doesn't feel like a tin can (but that is reflected in the price) so I feel very safe driving the car.
The interiors, so sporty and stylish. I recommend you go for the Chili pack and leather seats are definitely worth the extra. I think the sporty leather seats in the car, make the car for me personally. The sunroof is a great option, it almost feels like you are driving a cabriolet.
Boot space, it is not a practical car to do your weekly grocery shop in. You will find you have to put half your shopping on the back seats. So don't go shopping with a car full of people.
The cars should come with a tyre puncture kit as standard. Or design a place under the vehicle for a spare typre.

The BMW Mini as its name suggests is a small quality vehicle although expensive at first glance it holds its value well. Looks & feels amazing inside & out. Fun to Drive. Very well built. Excellent Performance. Great reliability.
As an extra the Chilli Pack is well worth the money with alloy wheels, better headlights & interior. The car looks both good on the inside & out.
The boot could be bigger & more room in the back but this may spoil the looks. Better Fuel Economy would also be a bonus.
1.6 Cooper S Chili Steptronic
When I bought the Mini I was a little sceptical, a little bit of a ladies car. But in the end it turned out to be a little hot hatch, with the Steptronic gearbox it is great, very comfortable and does not take too long to get used to. The car itself is deceptively spacious with loads of head and trunk space. The engine is quiet unless you open it up on the road.
The Chilli pack offers good value for money. The sat nav is ok but does take some getting used to when it is in the center console with the speedometer. Over all a nice car, quality build of a BMW at a better price.
I would move the speedometer to behind the steering wheel and the default suspension setting is far to hard, I had to soften it myself.

I have had my Mini for about 5 months and was not a big fan of them before geting it bought to be by my Dad. Now I would not be without it! Its small and easy to park in town, you can squeeze into the tightest of spots and also looks the part both inside and out!!
The dashboard is so big and funky. I also love the buttons for the windows etc. Also love the door handles in the inside as they are so hidden and most people dont know how to get out!!
I think that Mini could put a few more storgage compartments into the car somewhere as there is very little space to put your purse, sunglasses etc.

Solid, well made car as can be expected from BMW. Surprisingly spacious inside the car, with plenty of room for an average adult male in the back seat. Fuel consumption lower than ideal being a small car at average 40.2mpg however its very nippy and responsive.
6 speed gear box always comes in handy on motorways as it just cruises along nicely. iPod connection built into stereo system so you dont have to store multiple music CDs in the glove compartment. Secret storage compartment above glove box to store items out of sight and safe from curious hands!
For some reason you cannot open the boot unless the engine is switched off, which is annoying when my dog has to get in and out!

Most cars look nice in the show room/forecourt but a Mini has a satisfying quality you can feel when you drive it and because it is a BMW it is as good build quality as a BMW of more than twice the value. For a sports car it is amazingly economical at 38 MPG (that's what I am getting driving over 450 miles a week). As it has a stop start engine road tax is £120 a year. They are not the fastest car under £20,000 but it is very close and comes with 5 star safety rating, quality interior and an economical engine.
Accelerating when you want not when the car is ready. The build quality makes me happy every time I drive it.
Look out for a USB ipod dock as BMW charge over £300 to fit a £30 cable. Climate control would be nice.
1.6 Cooper S
I have had the Mini Cooper S now for 3 years and to be honest I have not been best pleased with it. Yes you can tell that it is of sound design and structually safe as you would expect from the germans. I had an old mini cooper which I had suped up myself and found this much mnore fun to drive. I feel the Germans have killed the fun of the mini.
Probably my fav feature is the S button meaning sport button its the only real feature which make it different from the other minis - oh yeah and of course the vent on the bonnet does look rather smart/
Like i have said in the top post make it a little bit more free and less forced. I can feel a real car wants to get out but it just cant. And make the wheel arches bigger.
1.6 Cooper S Chili
I bought my blue and white Mini Cooper S 1.6 last year after owning a red Mini Cooper. I absolutely love my Mini more than any other car I have ever owned. It is clearly very well built with quality materials and feels very sturdy. It is surprisingly spacious inside (the only part that is small is the boot-but fine for shopping). Just sailed through it’s MOT last week-happy!! It drives beautifully. A very speedy car for city driving or around country lanes, grips the road well, especially corners! Also How good and trendy do they look, even the dealerships look fun, bright and friendly! The best thing was the different colour roofs and mirrors, only on Coopers and Cooper S. They made them look so amazing. Then I looked inside - SOLD! The inside is simply amazing it wont be beat! Hundreds of options are available, pick carefully though... can be quite expensive!
Safety - its a very safe car, lots of safety features. Side and front air bags, designed to wrap you in a bubble. Pretty cool I think.
I can't imagine switching to another car other than a new Mini Cooper S for a very long time.
Everything about the BMW Mini Cooper is good! Sporty little hatch back, it looks fun and is very fun to drive. Handles like a dream around corners. I think it must have more options than any other car!??? You can have fun with various colour schemes/interior options/exterior trims. Warranty for lasts for five years! Feels very safe and comfortable, quite economical on fuel. Reasonably roomy interior, seats four adults comfortably. The faster you take a corner the more it grips! Great on motorway, pass trucks at speeds of 75 mph plus and never feel windblown. Go and test drive one. You'll want buy it!
This is really hard as I can’t think of many bad points or “Suggested improvements”. I guess for some people their might not be enough space, especially in the boot – but it’s a MINI.
I'm a little disappointed estate agents have bought them and plastered advertising over them. The run flat tyres which I have on mine are quite expensive to replace and the air pressure warning sign button was tricky to figure out at first but to be fair as soon as I properly read the manual it was fine! None of these points would ever stop me from loving my Mini though.

The BMW Mini is a great car to drive, its very nippy and has brilliant handling. However when you take it onto the motorway you do start to notice a few rattles appearing once you have had it a while. Nothing major, its just kind of annoying.
The big speed dial is brilliant, much more fun than a clock. The trip computer behind the steering wheel is also very good and displays a variety of information.
The build quality is a real issue, it might just be a case of tightening a few nuts and bolts but the rattles do start appearing very quickly.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
