Great Family Diesel Car

Review

I have been driving my 1.5 diesel Scenic for 2 years now, and I still like it a same as before. It is very comfortable and spacious, and provides great economy. The dashboard is very modern and my favourite feature is a large digital speedometer - great way to keep an eye on your speed! (It saved me a few penalty points!!!). Overall its a very modern and funky looking car and it's lovely to drive too.

Favourite Features

The keycard is an other funky feature, and its provides additional security - you can go and turn your car on and you can simply remove your keycard, however the car engine stays on. Basically in the cold winter morning you can switch your engine and heater on, take the key out and lock your car up!- how secure is that?

Suggested Improvements

There is no traditional key for the car- because the keycard is electric and needs battery (its last long) it is possible if your battery runs low in your keycard you will not be able open your car and possibly drive it! I would like an added traditional key to overcome this.

Great Family Car

Review by Dan Clay on 28/4/2010

Review

Had this car for nearly a year and I must say it's a great family car. With plenty of acceleration and some very smooth driving capabilties it's a really nice, roomy car to get the family around in. Plenty of boot space, 6 gears which is great on the motorway and a really nice cruising feel to it means it's a great car to drive.

Favourite Features

Best feature has to be the handbrake which works like an automatic. Although what's slightly odd is that it's a button push one on the right hand side of the dash it still means that you can hillstart with just the accelerator which I love!

Suggested Improvements

The handbrake, as mentioned above, does take a bit of getting used to and the interior is a little dull, so while it's not the most attractive car on the inside there's a good mpg ratio to more than make up for it.

A Really Flexible Choice

Review by Charley Downey on 27/4/2010

Review

I bought this car because of the deceptive amount of space. I went shopping for a medium-sized estate car, and came home with this. It has fantastic flexibility with lift-out split seats, hidden compartments, and other great space-utilising features. It's easy to drive and comfortable. My only complaint is the much-discussed technical fault with the electronic dashboard. I bought the car at 3 years old and, 9 months in, the dashboard completely failed. This was a known manuacturing fault, and Renault seemed to have the attitude that I should be grateful that they were only charging £100 for a replacement. I wasn't. I would buy a Renault again, but only after carefully researching if the model had a history of similar problems, as I don't believe that consumers should have to pick up the tab for manufacturing incompetence.

Favourite Features

Dash-mounted gearstick, storage space, flexibility of seating arrangements, safety features, electronic display (with features beyond what you would expect from a car in this price bracket).

Suggested Improvements

Don't release a car with a serious manufacturing fault and, if you do this by mistake, don't expect your customers to subsidise rectifying your error!

Great Family Car

Review

I bought my Renault Scenic car in 2007 and have used it for the past 3 years. It is a great car 2002 made. I have done over 25,000 miles in the 3 years and have driven all over the country. It is really smooth and easy to drive, never had any problems at all. Great for the family as it is nice and big to fit both us and our luggage.

Favourite Features

Very large and spacious car with lots of nooks and cranies to keep yout items. Smooth Pickup and Stopping. Great breaking power and powerful AC for the hot weather and heater for the cold.

Suggested Improvements

It is really great, the only major problem is that it consumes a lot of fuel and would like that to give a better efficiency. I just get about 8 miles to a litre of petrol which works out to about 14 pence a mile.

A good family car

Review by Faiza Sajid on 7/12/2009

Review

We bought this Renault Scenic car nearly a year ago because of the growing family needed something reliable and with more space. This Eenault Scenic was the perfect choice, its good reliable car with enough space to put kids booster seats and car seat. It has a big space boot in the back wich is an added bonus to do a families grocery or to go out on a trip where you need more space to put all of your kids things.

Favourite Features

My favourite features of this car are space for my whole family and handy compartments to put all your bits and bobs, and a big boot space. It drives perfectly and gives you peace of mind that your family is safe and secure in it and you have all the things you need.

Suggested Improvements

Steering could be improved little bit as it seems heavy to turn sometimes but it could only be that I am not still so much used to it. The next thing is fuel economy it is very good car and does not take that much fuel but still could of be as little more greener to use.

Review

After having Renaults as my last three vehicles, it's with a sad heart that I must state that this will be my last one - Renaults have always offered value for money with in my case reliability, But this Scenic proves me wrong, after owning the vehicle from 18 months old it has has a list of continuous problems; Replacement front suspension bearings;
Two sets of electric window mechanisms - Glass held up by wood for over two weeks! Stainless steel exhaust - rusts through in year two; Fresh air fan fails on 1 & 2 settings; water pump leaks - major work to replace; fullset + two condensers on spark units and a string of minor faults - all this on a car with less than 36K on the clock. Engine very underpowered.

Favourite Features

- Driving position - very comfortable
- Internal space in seating compartments - loads
- Head room - great for us 6ft 4" people
- Good all round view
- Standard electrics - windows - trip comp etc.

Suggested Improvements

- Better engine more torque
- More quality control
- Replace the electric window equipment with a more robust system
- Stronger spare wheel cover
- Replace the faulty condensers on the sparking system for free - recall - spares even fail

Renault Megane Scenic 1.6 16v

Review

I love this car! It has everything you want for comfort, quality and those extras you want! When we first got the car, the gopping green colour was hard to bear, but it soon really grew on us!
The fact that you have 3 full size seats in the back keeps everyone happy!

The boxes under the matts and the seats are great for car essentials. The overall quality of the engine is pretty good! Apart from a few minor fixes its been great! We have the double working sunroof model, this is great on a hot day! This car is great for young children and older people because it is so high, this makes it really easy to get in and out of the car!
The controlls for the radio are on the stearing wheel, this is very practical and quite a nice touch to the car! It makes changing the radio station safe and easy!

The car can be difficult to park because it is so wide, but its easy to get used to! Another thing that is quite nice is the cool box at the front of the car! Great for cans of coke!!!

Favourite Features

The best features are the sunroofs and the radio controls and buttons on the steering wheel! It has to be the coolest feature! We had to pay extra for the double sunroof, but it was well worth it, I prefer sunroofs to air con, I like to feel the fresh air rasher that just smell it! It also lightens up the car, I have found that cars without sunroofs seem to be closed in and dark!

Suggested Improvements

It is a bit slow to speed up because of the weight of the car. I would not advise people to overtake if you havnt got loads of space because it accelerates very slowly! You also have to brake earlier than in other cars because it takes a whilst to stop. I'm guessing this is because the car is so very heavy!

Renault Scenic

For those in search of a family car, you can't do much better than this spacious delight. With plenty of room for 5 adults or 2 adults and three kids with more leg room than you can shake a stick at. Storage is not a problem either with cubby hole all over the place to store all those neccesities and not so necessities. The comfort level is great and as said before for a family car you couldn't ask for more. A great drive as driver or passenger it really is a treat to own. Plus the higher seating position allows for exceptional views for passengersin both front and back.

Favourite Features

Especially with those who have small children the boot is great with plenty of room for puschairs and the shopping at the same time. Being able to remove the seats also allows to pick up those larger things that you require for the modern family life such as washing machines etc.

Suggested Improvements

Perhaps the only downfall to the Scenic is the seatbelt layout in the back which is awkward for young children or the elderly. Although the layout is a compromise to allow for seat removal it is an area that could do with investigation with in the future.

Lots of space. Great and large interior which is very well laid out. Very easy to park. Large boot area which is also versatile and it allows large objects to be stored with ease. Lots of room for the passengers. Good positioning of the headrests. Storage bin areas are large. There are storage boxes under the cabin floor and within the boot and there are tables on the front seat-backs.

Favourite Features

Large amount of space all around. Clever configuration of seats. Rear seats slide individually to and fro, tip forward, lift out and double-roll. Drawers under the seats and large storage bins.

Suggested Improvements

Sometimes appears underpowered. Don't like the position of the handbreak. Turning circle is too large. Numerous difficulties withe electrics. Interior cloth easily gets dirty and damaged.

SCENIC FAMILY CAR

Review by Samantha Bush on 6/12/2009

Review

This is a great car for our family. We can fit everybody in plus everything in the boot as it is so large. It runs really well and has great comforts e.g. ac, cd player, 2 sunroofs, elec windows. The extra height makes for a comfortable ride too.

Favourite Features

I love the fact that it has a front and back electric sunroof and also the drop down tables in the back are excellent for the kids.

Suggested Improvements

Cup holders would be an extra benefit in the front to put a coffee or a bottle of water. The back seatbelts are slightly different to most cars but are just as safe.
