My 93 convertible is almost 2 years old now, although I have only been the proud own for 1 year I can say I have enjoyed every minute. The exterior styling of the 93 has evolved over the years and although you can see the traditional SAAB elements such as the clamshell bonnet it has a modern look with good lines.
Of course being a soft top convertible the roof line isn't as dynamic as a hard top but it is fine to me and with the roof down the body lines are fantastic. Inside there is room for 4, even if those in the front seats are 6 foot. The leather give a plus feel and overall it feels very solid, all of the controls are conveniently placed and dials clear and precise.
As you would expect with a convertible the ride can have a little wallow but this is more than acceptable and doesn't stop you pushing it a little more through the bends. As I have the 2.Ot (rather than the 1.8t) it has the 6 speed manual, which has the ratio's well placed and helps with fuel economy. On a combined trip I get between 29 and 30 mpg with that rising to 35 - 37 mpg on a pure motorway run as long you don't over do the speed.
With the roof up there is very little difference to a hardtop, a little more wind noise is the main thing and when it rains the noise of rain on canvas does come as a bit of a shock at times. The roof down experience (just holding down a switch on the dash for just under 10 seconds completes the conversion) is also very good, with minimal wind buffeting even at motorway speeds, and if you do get cold turning up the heaters and fans makes it pleasurable on even a chilly day. The optional heated seats also help greatly, especially with their 2 heat settings, so there is no need to boil.
Overall I have had no problems with the SAAB and love it, especially with the roof down, which I have far more often than I expected when I bought it. Go on do it.
The convertible is fantastic for making the most of the few fine days we have in the UK and the seat are so comfortable and supportive.
A full ipod doc controllable from the steering wheel mounted controls would be a great addition. Also having the glove box and centre storage lock as part of the central locking would make it safe to park with the roof left down.

This is my 2nd Saab convertible - I just LOVE them! You get all the comfort of a classy ride with walnut dash and leather seats. Its reliable and feels solid to drive. Looks smart with the roof up or down. Saab dealer prices a bit steep but join their Saab owners club for discounts!
Windows defrost very quick as its deisgned for Swedish winters I suppose! Love the in-house computer telling me lots of info, like 'time for a service' or how many miles left till i run out of petrol, and weather temperatures.
I dont like the key down by the gearstick as it gets in my way and is hard to find in the dark. Its a bit juicy, so would like to see a lower CC model released.

This is the first convertible car I have ever owned and I am so pleased with it. The drive and handling are superb. It is extremely comfortable and has a luxurious feeling about it. It sticks to the road like glue and feels extremely safe. I was also pleased to find out that although being a soft top it also has roof airbags for extra protection.
I love the way the car drives and responds so well, it is very luxurious and comfortable and just can't wait for the summer to arrive.
The only down side of this car is that although it is classed as a four seater when 2 adults are in the front there is not much leg room at the back, but the rest of the positives of this car outweigh this minor problem.

Very nice design for comfort, I used to have BMW 3 Series and thought that was best after driving a saab. To me its best car smooth breaking at traffic lights. Head rest are at perfect position. What I like most about Saab its practical desgin such as position of climate control buttons are there so u can have gear stick in hand and open the fingers and u can touch temp controller. Seat warmer at front 2 seats make me comfortable when coming back from work so when I get home I don't have back pain. Cruise control gives you extra comfort while on motorways.
Auto collapsable hood. Stereo controls at steering wheel. Boot open button at drivers door, 2 front seat warmers, climate control and cruise control. Warning systems in dash. Seatbelt warning for front passenger seat so you dont have to tell some one off about it.
Front view of car is not as impressive so I have to park my car rear out in driveway. It looks ordinary from front. Front bumper is too ahead, should the grill be at level as bumper, as the new model has now.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
