2005 (55 plate) Saab 9-3 1.9 Tid (150BHp) Vector. It has the half grey leather, with all the gizmo's (reverse parking sensors, built in SAT-Nav, phone system, auto-windwipers, etc). Purchased it as an ex-company car with 87k on the clock and has been a good reliable car (except for a gearbox linkage problem – supposedly common on the 6 speed gearboxes, which I got removed and cleaned/realigned for £100). The car is very comfortable to drive, and very powerful. The half leather is great for long journeys as your back doesn’t sweat like it does with the full leather. Fuel economy is good if you don’t go too mad, as the 6th gear is very economic on the motorway. Another good thing with the 9-3 diesels is the service intervals is every 18,000 miles or 2 years, so save some £££ on that! Would recommend the 9-3 for the power, comfort and looks, but would probably say go for the 5 gear diesel version as the gearbox isn't the best in the 6 gear one.
Reverse parking sensors are great, built in SAT-Nav is fantastic (although they stopped creating the SDAL version of the DVD after 2006 as they changed suppliers of the DVD in the newer models - however can use the SDAL DVD disk out of a mazda which has updates to around 2009), built in phone system is great (slide a sim-card into a slot in the boot), auto-windwipers are great, and auto-dimming rear view mirror is good when driving during the dark. I also love the auxiliary input connection that is located underneath the armwrest in this car....plug your iPod / MP3 straight in saves buying new CD's all the time!
Obviously sort the gear box out in the 6 speed gear box. Another improvement is definately to sort a deal with the DVD manufacturer to produce newer and more up-to-date maps in the SDAL DVD version, as the latest available one was 2006!

Excellent car - sits well on road. I always enjoy driving it. Quite heavy wear on front tyres, but only to be expected. Economical for what it is, and a fair alternative to German motors. Insurance expensive, but you pay to differentiate yourself.
Optional leather a dream. Heated seats a joy. Very quick to defrost. Paintwork superb - always cleans up well. Huge boot and folding seats brilliant.
Wheels can be difficult to clean. Auto dipping mirror across the range would be useful. Black covering on door mirrors seems to grey very quickly.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
