This model of Octavia is stylish, comfortable with a brilliant usage of technology and it is approved as a very good car by a lot of automobile engineers. I also appreciate the smooth, refined diesel engine and the spacious cabin. It is one of the best all rounder in its segment and combines Volkswagen built quality. It handles well too and has a lot of comfort in driving.
It is very spacious from inside and has a very good look from outside. It has a got a very nice pick up and no matter car is running at 40 or 140, you wont feel a jerk inside. Very comfortable and has got a nice audio system.
I feel that it should have a more developed engine with more economy rate and less pollution. Some other technological features can also be installed like gps technology etc.

You may be one of those people who remembers when Skodas were the punchline to many jokes. But they have changed since then and today it is the sensible choice for sensible people, who save money, travel comfortably and enjoy driving. It is stylish and a joy to own, having driven many cars it is a delight and has everything you could ever need. Even on my daily slog in around Dartmoor and Exmoor, it pulls cleanly and keeps up with all but the most reckless of traffic. The hills are a doddle and you feel relaxed at the end of each journey. It's incredibly economical - averaging around 57mpg and apart from topping up with the odd drop of oil, it needs nothing between services. The dealers (if you find the right one - mine is in Cornwall) are also very helpful. A marvel. Good to drive and comfortable and not boring... ...honestly! My wife, herself has even just had delivered a new Octavia Estate 4x4 and is even greater in it road holding and security. If you're sensible and need a car, look no further.
The DSG Gearbox - No matter what speed you are travelling at the Skoda Octavia with DSG Automatic gearbox is a delight. Even with the humble (and ancient) 1.9TDi it has all the power you need. Shifting seamlessly through the gears and when you need to press on, simply slip it into S-mode and it holds on to each gear until every drop of power is used. You don't have to buy a luxurious (ie. expensive) to have a fantastic gearbox.
None really, everything is where it should be. The only addition (which all modern cars have) is an auxilliary input for my MP3/Ipod and perhaps DAB radio, as travelling as many miles as I do, it is always easier (and far less wires dangling about) to have an integrated/dedicated system and sit back and enjoy the sound quality.

Great car for any manoeuvres, great suspension, acceleration and breaks. If treated with great care it can easily work for 12, even 15 years. I have been driving this car since May 2002 and I had never any problems with it. It never let me down in any case, either a family trip or normal casual ride on a motorway. I could develop great speed in spite of the fact that the it is simply combi car. I enjoyed the look my car and each feature gives the impression of neatly and well though work done.
General appearance, electrically controlled windows, aluminium alloy wheels, programmable built-in original skoda radio with old stylish cassette recorder, big spacious car with enormous trunk, great for family and for single rides, very streamlined shape, shiny dark blue colour.
I would suggest paying more attention to the interior design of the car as this is simply its weakest feature. I would suggest caring more about the finish of the car, as single mistakes could influence the general overview by the customer.

An absolutely superb vehicle. Build quality far exceeds anything else that I have driven in the last 10 years, to include Volvo, Renault, Mitsubishi, and BMW. The DSG gearbox is smooth, quick and fun to use, with paddle controls on the steering column for semi automatic mode. The diesel engine is quiet and VERY responsive in sport mode, and returns approx 46 mpg accross the board. The extras on this model surpass any other car that I have owned in this price bracket, and result in a fun, responsive car that handles very well. Boot space is huge, and the car is comfortable inside with firm (sports) seats.
Gearbox, cruise control, gear paddles on steering column, handling, very good acceleration. Also SD slot on onboard music system and ipod jack.
Automatic parking as per the Skoda Superb, and heated seats. I cannot think of anything else that could be added!

I used to be a badge snob but after taking a deep breath I arrange a test drive with the Skoda dealer. My first drive was the diesel varient but I decided to take the petrol out for a spin. Both cars were fantastic but I was blown away by the petrol (plus I only do less than 10,000 miles a year). After testing driving seat, and Audi there was no competition for my 17k budget. Two year later I've just replaced the continental tyres but have had abolutely no issues with this car (Ask a Skoda mechanic about common problems; its a short conversation). I am now considering my next car and Skoda is certainly at the top of that list. Say goodbye to badge snobbery and say hello to that big smile you will have on your face when you step on the gas.
vRS Badge, Amazing stopping power, Maxi dot computer (option), Large boot space, rocket ship acceleration. Child friendly interior.
Improve materials used on dashboard, use another brand of tyre (the continentals can be noisy) I now have Vredesteins Sessanta's, greater range of paint options.

I have found my Octavia a very good car. I like the comfort, the radio and I also like the heated adjustable mirrors. I do think the 1.4 engine is slow on pick up but that is the only downside to the car. What you can't get in the boot is not worth mentioning.
The radio has plenty of presets, the mirrors are heated and at this time of year is invaluable, the boot is big.
The engine could be improved, I would like to see a sunroof on the car maybe a multi change CD player.

We have had Skoda Octavia for the last two and a half years, it hasn't disappointed us as such yet, just usual wear and tear as you would expect, otherwise car to recomend with pleasure. I think it is not very fuel efficient, but yet quite inexpensive to maintain. It is a really good car, comfy, good space, good boot space, even greater with seats down.
It is very spacious inside, looks lovely from outside as well as from drivers point of view, dashboard in the right place and proportions, air conditioning is a great plus in summer.
It does need a lot of fuel to run, it is not the easiest to drive as doesnt handle the road as easily as many similar cars, to be honest driving it feels sometimes as if I was driving a bus...

Not a bad motor, drinks fuel a bit but the power it gives out compensates. Its a comfy long distance cruiser, and I wouldnt mind getting another, as to be honest its quite a decent car. In my opinion the styling is pretty swish and the handling aint bad either. I prefer my new Mazda 6, as it is better in each department. So i would go for one of them given the choice again.
I like the sound system and the fact that it is quite cheap and simple to maintain. Iits got a good alarm too. I also like the design and interior
I'd improve the handling and fuel economy if it were down to me, as it isnt the best in either department. Maybe the Octavia vrs is better, but this car dissapointed me to be honest
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
