Not fast but trustworthy

Review

I've got the bottom spec 5 door Toyota Auris and while its not amazing it is ideal for getting me from A to B. I get 48.8 MPH from it and its a solid drive. Its not very nippy or anything special in fact you would probably say its quite a boring car but I don't care. I have had a couple of problems with it but the dealer sorted it out really quickly and without any hassle so no complaints there. I like to so much I'd buy another or the hybrid that's out this year.

Favourite Features

I like its chunky look and the fact that the boot in it is quite large given the size of the car. Its also very well built and in comparison to my neighbours whom have other makes of cars I've had little to no problems.

Suggested Improvements

The brakes squeal but this seems to be an issue with most of the cars in this range and it talked about in various forums, other than its lack of go when the accelerator pedal is pushed due to its sheer weight its fine.

COMMENT ON MULTIMODE

Review

THIS WOULD BE A GOOD CAR IF IT DIDN'T HAVE MULTIMODE TRANSMISSION. IT IS A COMPLETELY UNRELIABLE MODE OF GEARBOX AS YOU NEVER KNOW IF IT IS GOING TO CHANGE GEAR OR NOT. THIS COULD POSSIBLY BE DANGEROUS AS IT IS OUT OF YOUR HANDS AND RELIES ON A COMPUTER TO CHANGE GEAR AND COMPUTERS ARE NOT PERFECT.

Favourite Features

THE ROOM INSIDE AND NO TRANSMISSION TUNNEL. A VARIETY OF EXTRAS INCLUDED IN THE SPECIFICATION INCLUDING HEATED DOOR MIRROWS AND ELECTRIC WINDOWS ALL ROUND.

Suggested Improvements

BRING BACK A NORMAL AUTOMATIC GEARBOX AND BETTER FUEL CONSUMPTION AND LOWER EMISSIONS TO REDUCE THE ROAD TAX AS THE PRICE OF MOTORING IS GETTING BEYOND A JOKE.

Toyota Auris

Review by Matthew Perry on 7/12/2009

Review

Good features, air conditioning system, top safety features - lots of air bags, very smart alloy wheels, poor fuel economy for city driving. CD, radio. Quick acceleration, good cornering at fast speeds.

Favourite Features

Air conditioning system, CD player, and radio good sound quality, change gear indicator, colour- nice silver paint. Digital display for speed etc.

Suggested Improvements

Has better fuel economy, needs to be more envrionmentally friendly, needs a larger storage area needed in the boot - sometimes a squash.

Toyota Auris review

Review

Quite a nice looking car, interior looks quite square and basic in some sections, nice cd system and interior colours though. Exterior looks very smart, nice alloy wheels and air conditioning as standard. Fuel economy needs to be worked on a bit but can still do 40 miles to the gallon.

Favourite Features

Eco system designed to automatically turn off car engine when stopping for long times, very handy when stuck in traffic or long traffic lights.

Suggested Improvements

Better gearbox design, appears very clunky changing gears, still needs to work on fuel economy, interior could do with some modernisation, even on basic models.

Car Leasing vs Buying

Car Leasing Video DemoThere are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
