I recently bought this automatic 1.8 hatchback car.
Good points: Toyota produce most reliable family cars and this car is another proof power ful engine and very quick pickup. Good legroom and enormous boot space with foldable seats make it huge. Car has good display meter with good size button.
Down Sides: Not most beautiful interior, steering is not very adjustable as can do only rake. Head rest is not very carefully positioned.

- Will recommened anyone for 2nd hand buy.
- Interior needs attention.
- Not very fuel efficient but average as you expect from another 1.8 automatic.

The Toyota Avensis is a good buy for a family that requires space in the back and a good all rounder. Whilst not the flashiest of rides, the car benefits from Toyota's legendary reliability and general good build quality. Everything works as it should, it's not superb in any features (other than reliability) but it excells in most. The drive is comfortable, it's quite fuel efficient for a larger car and there are sufficient features for even the technologically inclined. Looks wise it is pleasant but nothing more. The bodywork is easy on the eyes and the interior is functional and well layed out - but then again one would not expect the beauty of an Aston Martin in a car costing around 15k.
The boot is very versatile and there are many options to reconfigure it to suit certain needs. Its capacity is very good. The CD player plays MP3s, essential for the modern driver. Dual climate control works very well.
The GPS system is average at best and lacks the option to enter a post code. It also suffers from more lag than the better ones I've used.
The back seats can be brought down to increase boot space, but one of the seats does not fold flat. This is an annoyance when you want to put in large flat items.

Basically I have been driving a Toyota for the past many years, these vehicles have a good side to every angle, previously before my Toyota Avensis I've owned a Toyota Carina e, then I decided to purchase the Avensis. This car has not given me any problems besides the only wear and tear which everyone has to face with every car, very reliable and also comfortable. You feel safe when you drive and have all the airbags even the curtain airbags which i haven’t come across in any other vehicle. The fuel consumption is good for the engine size; this car is very smooth you just feel like you driving on something so soft. The power steering is so good on this car it’s like playing with one of the computer game console steering; the reason is that the steering wheel is electric power assisted so it doesn’t require any steering oil. My Toyota has a CD player and a Cassette Tape player together, which is very nice you can listen to your old tapes which are stacked up on the shelf and make them useful. The interior is great nothing cheap, very strong interior and the doors are very strong - i didn’t know the doors had a special safety spec inside, basically they have iron bars going across the middle between all the doors.
The favourite features of the Toyota Avensis; the steering wheel is so light and easy to steer in any road condition. The other is the comfort of all the seats inside is so comfy not firm just right. I also liked the safety features of the curtain air bag which is very good because imagine a person hasn’t had the seatbelt on, and you managed to have a head on collision you would be lucky not smash your head on the windscreen with the curtain air bag. The other feature I like is the traction control button when you feel like driving with no traction then you can just press the button.
Improvements I would say by having heated seats feature so in the cold you can feel comfy on the seat than waiting for the engine to warm up before you start the heating. The xenon light should have been a good feature for night driving this would enable you to see the road vision more than having the standard halogen light which is no way near a xenon light system. The other thing which Toyota could have done with this saloon vehicle is by having a folding seat option this would enable the users to put long items which could be easily done, this has given me hard times when I have had long items and had no way in putting it in the car besides having it delivered, or collected in different car.

This car has been nothing but a treasure for me to have! The reason for me saying this has been the quality of the car over the years has been fine for me! The car has worked fine all the time for me with no big problems at all. Since buying the car in 2003 the car has been a success for me with no major problems at all.
The car starts well all the time and runs on the road fine for me. The insurance of the car is pretty cheap to so you are getting a good deal with the insurance with the car. The car will cost around 1,000 at most places second hand traders so its a cheap buy.
On the motorway the car has been fine for me working well and running fast. The brakes of the car have been very strong which has impressed me a lot. The car horns a little too loud I got to say though!
Well the brakes are no doubt the best features of the car. I say this because it has saved me from a few accidents on the road thanks to the strong brakes! The brakes stop the car like a emergency stop so any time you are close to another car and need to brake you know you are saved.
The petrol of the car is cheap to, the cars speed is fantastic and runs well. I got to say the car is a good buy because of its quality. Inside the quality of the car is not bad either it is very nice looking from the inside.
Well lets look at the shape of the car its a little too long, if you are looking for a nice stylish car you will not like this car. They could improve the style to make it look more trendy as this would help the car a lot more.
Another improvement would be the heating in the car needs to work better. At times after starting the car up for 15 minutes the heating has not worked. Them are the bad points of the car which can be improved.
