I have had this car for four years now and every time I get in it's like driving it for the first time. The smoothness of the journey makes it a pleasure to drive meaning long journeys are effortless. The technology that comes with the car as standard is something to be proud of. The steering wheel means you can perform a multitude of the car's devises without taking your hands off the wheel. I also love the style of the car. It never gets boring and stands out from the crowed.
The car I have comes with lots of added extras such as: cruise control, climate control, automatic lights, rain sensing window screen wipers and interior ambient lighting and drivers arm rest. These features just make the car even more of a pleasure to drive. However, the car is still fantastic without these. Whenever I take anyone out in the car they are impressed with its sleek interior which is complemented by the soft ambient light. Overall I am very impressed with this car and I think Vauxhall have managed to achieve an outstanding car that will be hard to beat. It will be a car that everyone will be seeing for a very long time.
The car's boot space is plenty and I have no problems putting my golf clubs in the back. The same can be said for the glove box plenty of room in there too. However, the onboard computer is what really excites me. It has many devices from informing me when the roads are slippery to telling me the amount of fuel I am burning per mile. All this can be controlled by the functions on the steering wheel with ease. I also like the option of being able to turn of the traction control which just adds the car’s performance.
Because my car come with an arm rest it is placed just behind the handbrake and does get in the way when pulling it on or off. Also, the car comes with very bad speakers that distort at a pretty low volume so if these were to be replaced don’t expect an easy or cheap replacement. Another issue is the wheel balance. The front wheels can easily become unbalanced which can be felt when travelling at 60mph or more. Because this is ultimately a performance car parts and repairs do not come cheap. A couple of high quality wheels set me back £180.

When I first bought this car, I was pleasantly surprised that the dealer was so kind to me and he even bought me a beer. Paying £18,995 for a brand new car doesnt sound that bad... and its not, especially when its a 2.0 litre, 237bhp, turbo-powered monster. I adore this car I really do and after spending another £11,847 on the car I think it is one of the best cars in the world. I have recently bought new recaro bucket seats in black and white, a double-din sat-nav/tv/dvd/etc, arctic white paint job with a £2000 racing-style decal, a big-brake kit, a roll cage, road legal slicks, lightweight smokey grey alloys, a remus exhaust and a stage 5 power upgrade... so now my car has 380bhp+ to the wheel and weighs between 50kg-100kg less. It does 0-60mph in 4.8seconds, top speed of 178mph, and pulls 1.02g on a skid pan.
My favourite feature has to be the remus exhaust because it make the vxr sound like a reall sports car and I have beaten ferraris, lamborghinis, and nissan gtr's at track days.
I think the only improvement could be the rear end of the car as I think I would look better with a double 3" exhaust.

Our Astra looks really sleek and drives smoothly, but it leaves much to be desired in the way of comfort. I often find my back aching after a ride in it and there is no armrest between the seats which is a bit annoying.
I like that you can control the radio from the steering wheel. I enjoy the way the car is designed on the outside.
It needs an armrest between the two front seats and preferably more comfortable seats. The turn signal is a bit moody, sometimes it doesn't click off automatically after you complete your turn and you have to do that yourself, but sometimes it does.

This is a great car which I have owned for 6 years from new, it has NEVER had any fault, and this year was the first year it has failed an MOT and that was just suspension springs. It has never broken down, and it is still in great condition, the body work and paint are still spotless. I love this car, and I feel safe driving it, with the great reputation Vauxhalls have.
Sporty look and comfort of interior. It is also very nice to drive, smooth and steady gears. My father who owns a Toyota which is alot newer than my Vauxhall commented on how nice it was to drive.
Maybe better handling in the wet weather, it tends to slip alot on bends and roundabouts. Also it wheel spins on the spot in the wet, which makes it difficult to pull away from first gear in damp weather.

This is the second Astra sport sxi I have owned both bought from new, drives lovely, looks lovely, and suit my personality. It does require a bit of E SP to see out the rear window but that is worth putting up with for the pleasure of owning the car.
What will my next car be - a new astra sports of course.
Looks - interior and exterior specification - drives lovely - seating comfort - reasonable insurance costs - reasonable petrol consumption.
Could up the "from start" speed a bit and could add parking monitors as standard in view of the poor rear visibility. Could add wipers on headlights

I have owned many different makes of cars from mini's to fords but my absolute favourite is Vauxhall, hands down. I will never change my opinion, in the 4 years i've owned it i have never had to change the clutch or had any problems other than natural wear and tear, when i bought the car it had 25,000 miles on the clock, it now has 135,000. It's a beautiful shade of red, 3 door hatchback, the boot space is plentiful so much so i could even fit my in-laws in there (if i ever needed to that is)!!
My favourite feature is the driving seat, it has a lever to higher or lower the seat, with me being 5 foot 6 it is always on the higher setting, most cars i have driven never had this lever so i always had to use a cushion or two. Performance is excellent, especially on a Sunday when all the old(er) snails come out in their high performance cars which are driven at 20 miles an hour which i find really frustrating.
I only have two suggestions for improvement, firstly i wish my car had a six speed box and secondly if most new ovens have a self clean button then why can't my car have one, we are in the twenty first century after all......

Bought this car as a cost effective motorway car to get me to and from the office in comfort. The sport mode adds a little fun to the day should the motorway and weather conditions allow - obviously not often. I have found that it has been a good runner that said it needed a new gearbox at 42,000 miles which was entirely covered on warranty.
- Nice deceptively, roomy 3 door car.
- Good ride position and back support for long journeys
- Half decent stereo system not up to Boy Racer standards but good enough for Radio1 at 7 in the morning!
- Excellent fuel economy - between 46-48mpg regularly
- Air Con seems to be weak - clearing the screen takes time
- Thin Paintwork - chips and scratches too easy therefore not good if you park in a public / supermarket carpark regularly.

Generally well put together although you can see where a few corners have been cut if you look hard enough. Active owners forums available for help and advice. Cheap to buy and fairly cheap to run, not as good on fuel as I had hoped - 52 mpg in summer months dropping to 48mpg in winter.
Engine is quite noisy and unrefined but pulls well for its size. Tyres last ages and are fairly cheap to replace if you are careful.
I bought the car because I like the way the 3 door hatchback looks. The list of equipment is good and I love the addition of cruise control. The mp3 stereo and trip computer are great. The diesel engine performs well if a little noisy.
I think the diesel engine range needs more refinement or at least substantial soundproofing. The stitching on the seats seems to be a little weak in places but fine in others so may be just a quality control issue. The instrument control panel is always lit so an option to have it come on only when you have turned lihts on would be great.

First thing to say is this car is great in multiple ways and I feel it is well wroth every penny spent on it. Great controls, smooth ride and a sharp look is everything you would want in a car. Would recommend for everyday use haven't had any problems yet with this great car.
Sharp look makes it worth more than it costs. Also the smooth feel of the wheel match the controls well giving a good feel over all.
Interior could be made to feel as good as it looks with smoother effects and maybe a few nice finishes in places would improve the look.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
