We have a quite large family (six people) and the Zafira has been perfect for family trips on holiday or day trips to see relatives. The car is such a comfortable size that the children don't complain or become irritable or uncomfortable on the trip.
The car has a reasonably modern and sleek design whilst still being a comfortably sized family car (we own the blue version and have seen many other families on the road with this colour- obviously popular).
The steering is easy to handle and the car does not make a lot of noise when on the roads. It is smooth to move between lanes and parallel park and I feel very secure in this car when I’m on the motorway as it is quite robust.
According to Top Gear “The second row of seats slides and folds, and the third-row pair individually slot into the floor. If you don't have more than two in the car, you've got a van-like flat-floored cargo hold. All useful stuff, but of course you can't carry seven people and luggage. Which is why it probably doesn't matter the final two are only occasional seats.” An opinion I agree with wholeheartedly.
The back seats fold forwards to convert the back two seats into an extra large boot which is great for excessive shopping trips or just every day use if the whole family is not going out with you.
The versatility of the seating also means that the car does not look excessively large for a smaller family wanting a bigger car.
There are various cupholders and pockets to put things such as map books in (the kids have hung their art packs on the backs of the seats and we are able to hang a portable DVD player in the center of the front two seats which can be powered through the cigarette lighter)
Also:
* Electrically operated rear windows
* Anti-lock Braking System
* Air-conditioning
* CDR 500 stereo radio/ CD player
Whilst a good size, we have two teenagers who will sometimes become uncomfortable on long trips when in the very back two seats as their legs are quite long. I'm not sure if this is adjustable though.
The petrol is used up relatively quickly as you would expect with such a large, sizable car however it is still a bit of a pain.
The interior of the car becomes dirty easily but is easy to clean with a portable vacuum cleaner. There is nothing else I would say needs improving.
This is a good quality car with a nice design.

Very small and "cosy". Only small children would fit in the back two seats - not recommended for adults. It also has little or no boot really. Very difficult when out doing weekly shopping with all seven seats up.
Good if you have small children that would use the back two seats like me... will definitely have to change the car when they are a little older though. Good interiors though... cupholders everywhere etc.
Could do with more leg room especially at the back as it can get quite squashy there and very tiring especially on long journeys. Could also do with a bigger boot space to allow for storage for when out shopping etc. You can't even put a pushchair in there at the moment when all seven seats are up!

On board computer tells you range, average mpg, fuel used in gallons and miles done, also has a stop watch. Half leather seats all round. Adjustable steering column ideal for all heights of driver. Adjustable seat height, I am 5ft and able to safely drive this car in comfort unlike some smaller cars. Economical.
Rear view mirror changes when a car behind dazzles. Ability to close windows using the key fob, ideal for when children leave windows open. Quick for a diesel.
Needs an MP3 cd player and cruise control, would also benefit with parking sensor. They are the only suggestions, although these could possibly be had as extras.

I was looking to upgrade my saloon to a more space-friendly family car, so started looking at various MPVs. The Zafira came out on top for several reasons - I like Vauxhall's, it was the right size (not too big, but still roomy), the insurance wasn't much different to a saloon and the extra 2 seats in the back conveniently fold away. For me, this was a clincher - no having to install/uninstall seats as and when you needed them. The car is a good drive, a typical Vauxhall. Reliable, smooth, you can hear the engine (which I see as a bonus as I can tell if something isn't right). The front is comfortable for mum and dad and it is JUST as economical as a 1.8 Vectra. I was surprised at this as I was concerned I'd need a 2 litre to get decent mileage out of it.
As mentioned, the folding back seats are the best feature of this tidy car. The usefulness of this doesn't become apparent until you are in a real hurry and have to switch from shopping mode to kid carrying mode quickly. Unlike MPVs such as the Galaxy & Sharan, the seats do not get removed but instead get tucked away. Other than that, I like how economical this is for a larger vehicle.
The interior design is quite bland and very typical of a Vauxhall ... greys and plastics, etc. If I were to suggest improvements it would be to make the interior look a lot more modern, possibly with built in sat nav, etc. And seats which are easier to clean/hoover mess from. However, I suspect you can pay extra for these features if they were really important - as I was looking for value for money I was happy to sacrifice these particular features.

I have had my Zafira since August 2009. It is a first class car, a diesel engine, but very responsive and quick off the mark. OK it's not a race car, but do we all want one of those? I prefer a car that has plenty of room for my family, wife and 2 19 year olds, and has room left for my electric wheelchair. It is a comfortable ride and a dream on motorways where it eats up the miles with no trouble, it is not tiring to drive, just a pleasure.
I don't think I have a favourite, I like the whole vehicle, but if I had to chose, I suppose it would be the space inside
The only thing I could think of for this category would be an in built sat nav, although this is knit picking as it already carries everything most people would like in a car.

I think mpv's are very good for the whole of the family because they have more space and more legroom. I can fit all my family in my car and we go everywhere together. I can almost drive anywhere and its handling is very responsive. I think bigger family should consider buying a mpv or a Vauxhall Zafira. Vauxhall have come up with a vxr more sportier version in the Zafira range and I mite consider buying one in the future.
Alloy wheels, central locking, radio/cd, electric door mirrors, abs. exterior paint and rear tinted windows. It has a plain white dials although I would prefer the new version with orange dials. the power steering is very light and easy and it turns very well with the bends on the roads.
The horn can be a bit more sporty its too city like, too weak like in india, I would prefer a panoramic roof version if built in the near future and a satnav built in if they have one built. I've always considered a white colour with sporty alloys and black tinted windows which would be my ideal Vauxhall Zafira, but I am looking to upgrade soon to a newer version which more features and hopefully looking for more improvements and changes on the latest models.

My husband is tall and needed a large car which would also be suitable for a family as we have two young children. We bought the Zafira only 1 month ago, but it has been great in everyway it has been good on fuel, its quite nippy and drives and feels just like a normal sized car in comparison to the Picasso which felt like a bus to drive and sit in. The safety aspects are great. So I would reccomend the design for families. And the back seats are big enough for adults. We chose the Zafira as it was much cheaper than other competitors such as the Ford S-MAX.
Seven very comfortable and spacious seats, Isofix seats for childrens car seats. Sport mode when required, automatic wind screen wipers and safety child locks.
Road noise is quite loud from inside the car when you are sitting in the middle or back, but this isnt a problem in the front seats although I think this is normal with all mpv's.

The vauxhall Zafira is a really good car. Its as roomy as any mid-sized MPV, but it's better to drive than most and comes with lots of airbags as standard. It could have a few more stuff as the lower end models dont have much but if u buy one buy the best one.
Well the power steering is awesome and the eletronic locking is way better than normal. Plus the seats that come out at the back are reallly good and the boot is really roomy.
The lights at the front on the right side are hard to get to to replace to bulb so maybe abit more room there would be nice. The cover for the boot needs to be way better beacuse u loose the bits on the end and that is annoying sometimes.

My review about the fantastic MPV from Vauxhall, Its so good, I love the style and I dont mind saying, the speed of such a large car is great.
7 seats, with two folding down in the back is great, perfect for shopping or a day out to the seaside with the kids.
My favourite features of my Zafira would have to be, the two folding down seats in the back, the very good CD player, the hand break is weird looking and fits the design of the rest of the car and finally, the air-con.
My suggested improvements would be, to add Sat Nav to the whole range, electric windows on all the doors, alloys on all the wheels instead of those plastic fakes and thats about all.

The Vauxhall Zafira is a brilliant car for family. The amount of room is really good and I would recommend this car to anyone in my family or to my friends. The best family car it also has 7 seats so plenty of room. You can put the seats down so your able to put lots of stuff in the boot.
Power steering, eletronic windows, eletronic locking and the AC is awesome. It also has more features like its a 7 seater car and that is awesome aswell :D :D iIthink that its a really good car.
I think that it could hold abit more petrol but apart from that it nearly awesome so I would recommend this to most people.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
