Very comfy interior, with variable seat adjustments available including lumbar support. Smooth gear change but can be a bit sluggish in sixth. Lots of gadgets very handy on steering wheel and vehicle information screen great for broken lights etc although mileage notification doesn't appear too accurate. Drop down ladder hole between boot and back seat does come in handy suprisingly and boot size is very adequate. Screen defrost is quite quick and car heats quickly. Air con is extremley efficient. Radio and cd player are of a high standard. All equipment seems built to last only had to replace one light bulb in three years no other problems with car good steady drive with ability to get out of trouble with little difficulty great at cornering/overtaking and stopping in a hurry. Acceleration no problem quick off the mark if needed, solid body and very good safety features. Plenty of room for child seats in rear or front if required. Seats three adults comfortably in rear. Has additional features for mp3 players etc if required and extra storage. Fuel economy very good but could be better.
Comfortable steering wheel, lumbar support in seats, air con, easy to use controls for entertainment facilities. Overall general look and feel of the car very easy drive. Extremely reliable.
Could have automatic wing mirror closure as the mirrors don't close in very well and I suppose miles to the gallon could be improved. Apart from that there isn't much else I would require, nice all rounder.

Buying this car only a few months ago has been the best decison I ever made! It is very sporty and quick but very easy to handle while driving and goes round corners. It has good control and gets 0-60 in about 7 seconds although I have had a few minor alterations to help it out a little. Since buying this car I have had no problems with it what so ever. I brought this second hand but its in mint condition and I recommend anyone that is looking for a hatchback thats reliable but quick this is the one to go for!
My favourite features would have to be its steering, it is so much more accurate than any other car I have driven. A very smooth ride, it makes me feel very comfortable driving this car even when going really fast!! Cannot forget the lovely checked recaro seats!!
The only thing I would say is it isnt fantastic on the petrol. I've had worse though I get about 30 miles to the gallon which isnt too bad but on a long trip you do get a considerable amount more.

This is the car for a girly girl who doesnt want to look like too much of a princess on the road and still be a trend setter. The balance of style, functionality and pure fun of the car means that not only will you be a hefty contender on the road...the guys will drool at the sleek and stylish image portrayed when driving this car. Not only does it look good, and gain you some serious street credit but it is big enough to fit all your girls in for a night out on the town with a huge boot to match! The large space in the back seats and back seat access to the boot means that you and your girls can enjoy a car ride like never before and manage to fit in all your shopping wit ease!
Overall, this is the perfect car for a girl who would like to give the boys a run for the money on the road!
--Blue and Red colours of the dashboard
--Large boot
--stylish colour options for exterior
--audio system can read MP3
--Large back seats
--Access to boot from back seats

--Make there more space in the foot area for the front passenger seat

I'm 6"10 so legroom is my main concern and I fit in the golf fine. Although no legroom behind my seat! The golf is very reliable and I would recommend to anyone looking for a fast, hatchback. Parts are very easy to source as lots of people have these vehicles.
I really like the legroom, the speed, the central locking, the grill at the front, sunroof, boot space is plenty especially if your going away for the weekend camping with lots of euipment and lots of people.
Could be a bit roomier inside, air con would be nice in some hot weather. I could always do with more legroom but I will find that in any car that I own as I am so much taller than the average person.

I have been driving this car for about a year and well its been a brilliant little run around. Comfortable to drive with an interior that is simple, spacious for a hatchback and comfortable for both driver and passengers. Easily fitting five people even with a car seat. The inside comes with lots of compartments and cubby holes for your bits and bobs and the matt black dash is nice and elegant. One problem I found was that the glove box catch is easily broken but it is as easily fixed with spares coming in under ten pounds regularly online. The interior passenger reading light is a nice feature and the adjustable dash lights also a pleasant addition. Driving itself is a breeze. I own the diesel so not the quickest off the mark but a good steady runner that will happily keep up with traffic whether it be country roads, towns or motorways. It may not have the acceleration of a petrol but it doesnt have a problem reaching or keeping good speeds. It is quiet for a diesel and smooth and very reliable. As golfs are known for. The cars are a little more pricey than some in a similar range but the size, comfort and reliabilty and worth investing in. And it will hold it value better than other market competitors. Overall 9.5/10. Nice interior, very spacious boot, simple to drive and reliable.
Large boot that doesnt creep in on the rest of the interior. Comfortable driving position. Lots of cubble holes and additions inside. Also for those of you who do your own maintenance the spacious under bonnet helps when servicing.
To improve I would give it a little more pull off the start for times when you need to pull away quickly to get up with traffic. Have top quality headlight bulbs as standard (I have upgraded mine and they are much clearer). Have a stronger glove box latch.

Strut Brace (around £25) and some pretty 18" Alloys (around £300-400 unfitted) upgrades the handling to ridiculous levels making this a dream car! Although the noise can leave something to be desired (I found the doors quite 'rattely' and even more so with the windows partially down) but an all round amazing car to drive. Fuel consumption sometimes borders on embarrasing - and with todays fuel prices, you are looking at £65-70 to fill, and even using the Digital Miles/Per Gallon Gauge to keep her at 25-35mpg, this still only gives you 300 miles on a good day.
Suspension, Grill, Engine Bay, Accelaration, Dash Layout. Having upgraded the factory standard alloys to Audi RS8's (they fit with no adjustment needed) really makes a stunning statement of a vehicle
Handling is fine, but for cheap money you can really improve it! Strut Brace + Eibach Sports Coilovers + Wider Bigger Wheels = An amazingly comfortable ride!

Having been in the motor industry for over 15 years I can quite honestly say this is the best hatch I have ever driven/owned! Its quiet, quick, manoevrable, fun, well finished & economical but sporty too!! Ride quality is suburb & economy of 53 mpg for a 525 mile journey was amazing!!
Cruise control, sat nav, leather steering wheel. This car has the added benefit of the sat nav media system which is fantastic!! Only missing dynaudio but beggars can't be choosers!!
Not alot as they seem to have thought of most things!! I agree with some folks could do with better drink storage as on the old mk4. Could do with being a bit cheaper but still good value for money!!

First off the car is made as well as the TV ads. sugest, the solid clunk off the doors, the tight steering and reliability are all there in spades. Although you need to choose your gears correctly (stall with loud clunk rewards wrong choice), when you get it right the drive is a buzz and the turbo lag just enhances this. Overall since we picked this vehicle up from new, we have loved it though it could do with a few more bells and whistles as all the other new cars we have had you get a lot more toys, but I suppose you have to give something up for the supperior build quality.
The best things about our little golf is the exciting ride, it's always a pleasure to put the key in the ignition and is like the thrill of stepping into a fairground ride. The turbo always puts a smile on my face and the steering is like it's on rails through even the tightest of corners and the confidence the brakes gives you means you always feel in control. All in all the MK6 hasn't let the side down well done VW once again.
The only real complaints we have is the lack of bits and pieces. Maybe they could throw a cup holder or two and possibly an arm rest, just a couple of gizmos to up the spec would make a world of difference to what otherwise, is a super little motor.

This is a fantastic car that combines practicality and performance. Although this car is on average about £1500 more than the competition this is justified but the no compromise approach taken by VW. The car is designed to accommodate 5 people comfortable and still offers a decent boot.
The engine is a great blend of power and efficiency, I never thought an engine that could put a smile on your face could also do it without emptying your wallet but the Golf does! The handling is also very precise especially when you consider it’s front wheel drive.
The price is the main negative and perhaps the weight of the car. If only VW held back on the expensive materials and used engineering to give strength rather than steel.

So here's the thing - good old VW Golf - been around an age - what can you say about such an old car, but when you actually want a car that does what it says on the tin - this little baby is the one. On a cold dank morning, the ONE thing you do not want is a car that doesn't start, and in the 10 years that I have owned this, stuck out in the wind and the cold it always, always does. I know that VW are not known for their fancy schmancy extras, but this to me is just things that I can take or leave - well in VW's case - its leave!! I have owned a lot of other makes, and they all at some time failed to start, the very worst being the Peugeot - that was an absolute horror - it was always would it, wouldn't it start every morning, and a good 6 times out of 10 the little monkey wouldn't.
Now the VW also has the ultimate classic shape - it never looks dated, always has an elegant classy air to it, and with metallic black paint & alloys - this baby rocks despite being 10 years old. Add to this, the bright blue interior lights when the headlights go on, making it look like the interior of an aircraft carrier and you have got one great car.A brilliant & classic car, a bit low on the goodies, but it looks great, starts every time and is a great little drive.
Let's hear it for the brilliant VW Golf
Without a doubt, the fact that it is so unbelievably reliable and starts without fail in every sort of weather. Also love the fact that it is such a classic shape, that if you don't know what the number plate it, you wouldn't know the age of the car.
I have to confess that this could do with a little more interior comfort. The seats are a bit hard, the interior trim a bit pedestrian and it doesn't have that soft smooth feel that some other cars do. Also when you buy it, everything seems to be extra - not much comes as standard which is a pain as the price can escalate quite quickly!!
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
