The design of the car on the outside is more practical and 'mumsy' than cutting edge. That said the inside of the car more than compensates for this. A fantastic automatic transmission and fuel efficiency which is the main reason for our purchase at the outset. There is plenty of legroom, particularly for the driver with good visibility. Parking however is quite difficult, even for taller drivers, as the front pillars obscure the view.
There is minimal bootspace when all the seats are in use and VW would benefit from making the car slightly longer to enable enough shopping to fit in.
The car would also benefit from having a sunroof.
The touch-screen stereo is integrated into the panel and is easy to use with excellent sound quality.
The 7 seats are extremely useful for carrying my family of four plus the elderly parents. The car is high enough for comfy seating yet the access to seating is well planned for elderly travellers. The storage is very useful from littly cubby-holes under the seats to drink-holders for the rear passengers, as well as the rear tables for children.
The overall length of the car is good without making it too large to handle. That said, it would benefit from having a bit more boot space, particularly when the rear seats are being used. A split tailgate would make loading smaller packages easier and having to avoid opening the tailgate, particularly in tight spaces. The lack of a sunroof and the option for adding one, makes the inside a bit darker and it would benefit from the added light coming in. The distance from the steering wheel to the front screen could be lowered to aid visibility to make parking and overtaking easier and safer.

I have to say our car is brilliant, even the rear seats can hold an adult, (although not a 6 footer). Great driving position, good gear changes, drives well for a big car. Fuel consumption is around 42mpg urban, 55 for extra and 48 combined, (best was on m/way nearly 60mpg). Great front seats and outer seats in second row give decent comfort.
Plenty of stage spaces, front seats can be made firmer for more support, isolates noise well, the stereo system.
Would like 3 full sized seats in middle row, as middle seat is slightly smaller, also one that fold flat to floor would help. Mp3 socket is a little to close to the armrest, (it bent the wires and eventually I had to replace the cable).

Super 7 seater, great driving position, great engine, good firm handling and suspension. Grips road well and corners well too. Back row of seats are not very good flimsy and uncomfortable, drinks oil!!!
- Driving position upright
- Size of vehicle
- Economic to drive
- Storage features
- Nice wide door frames and good opening angle
- Front view windscreen bars obscure view area
- Rear seats too flimsy and too close to rear screen

This car is what you need for your family. Very practical, fun to drive, and reliable. Its price is not really cheap but I think it's worth it ;). I like the interior design; Spacious and feels comfortable -especially for the back seats.
The exterior design is not really that impressive... It looks more like a Toyota than a Volkswagen. And I think that the Peugeot 307sw is much more beautiful (But I can assure you that the Touran offers the best driving fun)...
Concerning performances, find the engine quite powerful (Enough for this kind of use at least), I mean, this is not a Super Car, certainly not too- fast but it gives you a great feeling of comfort =)
Mostly the character of this car... You feel the way when you drive it and that's probably the most imported but those qre quite useful as well;
- Room.
- Multimedia support.
- Reasonable price (Not that cheap but reasonable).
Better exterior design (especially from the back), More available colors, the wheel could be much better if it were leather. And a lower price if it is possible.

The Touran seems massive on the inside but isn't much bigger then the average car for parking, fantastic amount of storage and brilliant if you need to transport the extended family around, a really nice car to drive without feeling cramped. Very quiet on the road.
Loads of storage space, plus the seats are proper sized seats, especially handy when you have kids as their car seats are massive.
A socket to plus your mp3 player or Ipod into so that you can have different music. Maybe a bit more storage at the back. A place on the boot that you can fix the 'parcel shelf' to when you are using the extra seats otherwise it will be left somewhere.

Nice car to drive, comfortable and very stable on the road. However 2 gearboxes in 2 and a half years!! In many ways it does what it says on the label. It carrys my family around comfortably and in fairness to the car it starts first time every time. I have to say it holds the road really well and never feels like I'm going to lose it
Comfortable, very comfortable. Its seven seats are a bonus and when I dont need to carry seven passengers theres so much luggage space its unreal.
Sort the known gearbox problems out. Once this is done this is a very very fine vehicle and one that I would without hesitation recommend to anyone who needs a seven seater.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
