My car is a S40 2 litre Turbo. We bought it when it was 3 years old. We have had it for 8 years. We only changed the original battery last year, it is still on the original exhaust. It is showing signs of tiredness now, but we will happily spend the money to keep this car going.
Reliability. This car starts each and every time. I can take it anywhere, my hubby does not ever have to worry about me on the road, this car never lets us down.
This car is very uneconomical. It takes over £60 to fill the petrol tank these days, and it is probably only doing 25 mpg. This is a bug bear and a real issue, but may the tax on the petrol does not help at all.

Not a bad car fairly quick. Few problems initially with start stop function didnt work when supposed to .. town driving but yet worked in country areas, stupid really, but hopefully getting sorted tommorrow. Would advise you check car throughly when you pick it up from dealer as again mine is getting a mark (paint work) sorted on the drivers door handle which only I noticed!! Fuel economy rubbish supposed to be 72.4mpg .. and pigs might fly.. lucky to get 45mpg at moment. Nicely finished car, stereo volume could be louder for those who like their music, also a 10 cd autochanger option would be nice. Heated mirrors would be nice and I expected as standard having owned other Volvos previously.
The dominate look on the road. Handling. Speed. Reliability. Reputuation. Easy to wash. Comfort. Air Conditioning.
Heated door mirrors as standard. Better customer services mainly on the servicing department section. (treat your customers with respect otherwise you lose sales!!!)

At fast speed the S40 is well controlled, and tight corners can also be talken with plenty of confidence. The suspension strikes an impressive balance between comfort and control. The steering is very good and responds well to the driver. The fuel economy is very good and is the ideal company or family saloon.
The Start/Stop function allows the engine to switch off when the car is at a standstill, whilst at the same time maintaining comfort settings such as the air conditioning.
The boot space is very small for a saloon car, and while this might be aimed at the company car market can be a deal breaker for some potential buyers.

Nice looking car. The performance is great, the car feels bit bigger than it looks, as you might think it will hit others when you are turning. The fuel economy is much better than my old Laguna Mark 2 2001 1.6 (around town 32mpg), the S40 gave me about 45mpg around the town. Should have gone for S40 1.6D DRIVe, even more mpg. Over all, it's good value. I would purchase Volvo again in the future.
Quite nice looking, not only the exterior but the interior also. Everything works well, only a bulb needed to be changed so far. Audio sound was great also.
The compartments in the car just all too small, you can't really put anything in them, there are many cars at the same range would hold much bigger items, not on the boot, also the compartment on the doors. Make them bigger please so I can put more things in it.

1998 T Reg isn't the best car or the most fun car I've ever owned but for the purpose I bought this it's ideal. I make fairly lengthy trips with my kids so I was more concerned with safety. And this feels like a soundproof womb where I can relax. Not fast, not paticularly pretty. Stereo not great and hard to replace. Good amount of room. Surefooted, but mainly because of the weight of the thing.
Boot space deep, Soundproofing. Solid rather than spongy seating. Great build quality. Responsive PAS.
Quite tiresome getting up to speed. A little steep on insrance. The weight could be stripped back a little. Interior quite murky. Improve the stereo / speakers.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
