4Dr Saloon 2.4 D5 Se Lux
I have the 163bhp D5 which is post facelift but before the 2.4D labelling of the engine was introduced.
The S60 is a very underated car, it compares well with contempoary Audi's and BMW's yet costs little more than Passats etc.Looks are muscular yet understated and classy, with a couple like roofline.
The D5 engine, even in 163 bhp guise is a good match to the car being docile and flexible around town, silent at motorway speeds but with mountains of torque for overtaking. There is a very un diesel like burble on hard acceleration by the 5 cylinder engine.
I've had mine for 4 years and 80k miles and have experienced excellent reliability. Only the indicator stalk (replaced under warranty) and front wishbones (£212) have failed in this time. The car feels very solid and safe.
Power leather seats are the best in the business. Confortable for hours at a time. Pro logic 2 stereo is better than many high end home systems with an emphasis on clarity and balance rather than thumping bass (although it does a decent job of that if you require).
Very poor turning circle, virtually all S60's will have kerbed alloys as a result but you soon get used to it. Handling is reliable, if wooden. Its not a sports car despite all the mid range grunt. Boot is a decent size but the opening could be better.
There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
