Launched in 2006 alongside the smaller 5 seat C4 Grand Picasso, the Citroën 7-seat Grand C4 Picasso has become one of the most popular MPV’s on the market. Slightly larger than other 7-seat vehicles in its sector, such as the Mazda 5 and Renault Grand Scénic, the Grande C4 Picasso has also won the ‘MPV of the Year 2008’ award for two years running.
Unlike some MPVs, the Grand C4 Picasso isn’t just an extended version of its smaller, five-seat cousin. Innovative features such as adjustable mood lighting, advanced rear pneumatic suspension (available on higher trims) and unique fixed-centre control steering wheel, make the Grand C4 Picasso stand out from other cars in its class. It also still features many of the unique characteristics of the 5-seat C4 Picasso such as the large paroramic windscreen and impressive interior design.
There are four engine types available - two petrol and two diesel, along with manual, automatic and Electronic Gearbox System (EGS) transmission options. The 2.0iHDi 16v 138hp model comes with an optional six-speed EGS for smooth, instant gear changes; a Diesel Particulate Filter System (DPFS) to minimise emissions, and it achieves an impressive top speed of 121 mph. All engine options are fuel-efficient and have low CO2 emissions.
Trim options available for the Grand C4 Picasso include the LX, SX, VTR+ and Exclusive. All trims are installed with the standard top-class safety features expected of a Citroen but higher trims include luxury features such as leather interior, clever ventilation controls, convenient cabin lights and adjustable air conditioning settings and mood lighting controls for the passenger.
The Grand C4 Picasso obtained a five-star rating in the Euro NCAP safety test making it one of the safest cars on the road.
