The Ford Focus was originally launched in Europe in 1998 with the new version (Mk 2) arriving in January 2005 and a contemporary face lifted model released in early 2008. Long seen as a class leader in its segment and a best seller year after year since release, the face lifted model has seen many improvements, most noticeably, the interior. Ford have given this model a quality feel with smoother, soft touch plastics for the facia and door linings, the controls have also been updated with backlighting and contrasting trim giving the impression of a well finished classy look. Rivals include the Fiat Bravo, Honda Civic, Renault Megane and the Seat Leon.
Ford offers the 1.4-litre petrol engine, 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 and the 225 PS 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine in the new Focus ST. Diesel engines are available in1.6 TDCi 90 PS, 1.8 and 2.0 TDCi diesel with 110 or 136 PS. Ford have used the latest technology to improve fuel economy and reduce CO2 emissions. The new ECOnetic 1.8-litre Flexifuel runs on (E85) bioethanol which produces less CO2 than a standard petrol car.
Trim levels start with the base model Studio, the contemporary Style features electric mirrors and sporty aluminium trim, the Zetec features a quick clear windscreen and lumbar adjust for comfort, the sporty Zetec S with its stunning full body kit and 17”alloys, Econetic for the green minded, the exclusive luxurious Titanium and the muscular turbocharged ST available in ST2 and ST3.
