First founded in 1948, the Honda Motor Company, Ltd. ,is a multinational corporation headquartered in Japan. Honda is the 6th largest automobile manufacturer in the world as well as the largest engine-maker in the world, producing more than 14 million internal combustion engines each year. As of Aug ust 2008, Honda surpassed Chrysler as the 4th largest automobile manufacturer in the United States. The Honda Accord has been hailed as one of the world’s most reliable vehicles. Both the Accord Saloon and Tourer models feature Honda’s innovative Collision Mitigation System, which alerts the driver to an impending collision and automatically deploys additional safety procedures. The Accord Tourer also features 20Honda’s new Automatic Diesel Transmission.
The Honda Civic has four models in the range including the 3-door, 5-door, Civic Hybrid and the Civic Type-R. The Civic 3 and 5-door models have the option of Honda’s i-CTDi turbo diesel engine which is one of the quietest and most refined diesel engines available. 20Newer versions have now become well-known for their performance and sportiness, especially the Civic Type-R and Civic Si.
The Honda CR-V is a compact SUV that g i ves you the best of both worlds. It has the security of a high–driving position and the 4-wheel drive that you expect from an SUV but also has the stability and road handling of a saloon–style ride. Whilst the Honda FR-V is a six-seater compact MPV introduced by Honda in 2004.
The Honda Civic Hybrid prides itself on being one of the cleanest and most fuel-efficient hybrids on the market. The Civic Hybrid’s innovative 1.4 i E2DSI engine combines the performance of a 1.6 litre engine with the fuel economy of a 1 litre engine. It’s also has incredibly low CO2 emissions of 109g/km to help the environment.
The Honda Jazz is a 5-door hatchback designed to be compact on the outside yet spacious and versatile on the inside.
The Honda Legend is one of the most luxurious and spacious executive cars on the market. With only one trim option avaliable, the Legend prides itself on giving the usual ‘additonal extras’ as standard, including voice–activated Satellite Navigation system and an onboard Global Positioning System.
The Honda S2000 was created in 1999 to celebrate Honda’s 50th anniversary. Building on Honda’s racing heritage, the S2000 brings together the essence of a true sports car including a 2.0i VTEC racebred engine.
Aside from private car production, the Honda Motor Company are also famed for their role in motorsport. Honda entered Formula One as a constructor for the first time in the 1964 season. They have also competed in the Forumla Two championships and the Indycar World Series. In 2006, Honda won the Hungarian Grand Prix with driver Jenson Button but it was announced on 5 December 2008 that Honda would be exiting Formula One with immediate effect due to the current economic crisis.
