First launched in 2000, Kia’s third generation 2006 Carens is designed with Europeans in mind and is a strong competitor against rivals Vauxhall Zafira and Renault Scenic. This mid-sized MPV is available as a 5-seat or optional 7-seat vehicle, all of which fold flat to give an impressive 2106 litres of space.
The Carens is available with a 2.0-litre DOHC-CVVT petrol or 2.0-litre SOHC turbo diesel engine. Manual transmission is available in five or six-speed, depending on the model, and four-speed automatic transmission is also an option. Trim levels start at GS and continue to S, S5 and LS. Standard features include remote locking, air conditioning and CD audio with MP3 player. The range-topping LS 7-seat, adds climate control, sunroof, rain-sensing wipers, and cruise control. Safety features include ABS braking with EBD, side impact protection system and an array of airbags. The Carens features plenty of useful storage compartments and is excellent value for money.
