The Discovery 3 is the first Land Rover to be launched under Ford ownership and they have strived to ensure that this version of the popular Disco is a solid reliable work horse. A very capable on roader but with Landrover technology it is a superb off roader. The vehicle features four corner independent air suspensions on selected models which provides electronic cross linking and permits a variable ride height. This increases the wading depth to 700mm, a full 200mm more than the previous model. Terrain Response® is another top feature; this is activated by a dial on the centre console that delivers the optimum driving set-up for nine different conditions through five settings. There is a general driving mode for on-road and non-specific off-road use. Twist the dial to the right and the mode for grass, gravel and snow is selected which can also be used in general slippery conditions. Ruts, sand and rock crawl are also catered for with a further twist of the control.
The generous interior space mean that 7 adults can be accommodated all facing forward over the 3 seating rows. The flexible seating options allow multiple configurations including using the centre seat as a table and by folding the rear 2 rows of seats forward can create a wide totally flat load space.
There is only one power plant available, the TDV6 which produces 190 BHP and 440Nm of torque at just 1900RPM. Six speed manual transmission is standard on the GS and XS models but CommandShift ™ six speed auto transmissions is available as an option. The SE and HSE models have the CommandShift ™ as standard but the 6 speed manual gearbox can be fitted as a no cost option.
Closest rivals for the Discovery 3 are the Volvo XC, Nissan Pathfinder and the Toyota Landcruiser.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
