This Range Rover Sport is a sportier more nimble version of the popular Range Rover and uses many of the chassis/suspension components found on the Discovery 3. It is a very capable vehicle, luxuriously appointed and a comfortable long distance cruiser. It is aimed more at the performance on road market than the off road. Although it is still fitted with various off road gadgets should you need them such as Electronic Air Suspension with Terrain Response®, permanent 4 wheel drive and Hill Descent Control, all terrain Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Traction control as standard. It’s a practical vehicle too with a 60:40 split rear seat that increases the luggage space from 958 litres to 2013 litres when folded down and various storage pockets. As a tow car it can pull up to 3500Kgs.
There is a choice of 3 power plants, all highly desirable and smooth. For petrol fans there is a 4.2 litre supercharged V8 developing nearly 390BHP with 550Nm of torque, a formidable package in the Sport. Diesel fans have a choice of 2 power plants, firstly the TDV6 which produces 190 BHP and 440Nm of torque. Then the TDV8 at 3.6litres, featuring twin variable nozzle, electronically-controlled turbochargers which help deliver enormous low speed power. Expect 272 BHP and a colossal 640Nm of torque making it a superb tow vehicle or off roader, but quick to, able to reach 60MPH from a standstill in 8.6 seconds. CommandShift ™ six speed auto transmissions are standard features across the range.
Closest rivals for the Range Rover would be the Porsche Cayenne, the BMW X5, Audi Q7 and the Mercedes-Benz M-Class.
