The Mazda 5 was released in 2005; it replaces the outgoing Premacy model and is fitted with a flexible seven-seat interior. The Mazda 5 is the only vehicle in its class to offer sliding rear doors, offering exceptional access and convenience in tight car park spaces which rivals like the Vauxhall Zafira, Kia Carens, and Renault Grand Scenic cannot match. Its versatile interior includes fold flat seats and a split, adjustable middle row and there is even a large storage area for luggage with all seven seats upright. The 5 is one of the safest in its class, it features six airbags which helped it to achieve a maximum five-star EuroNCAP crash safety rating.
The Mazda 5 has a selection of four engines available, petrol variants are either the 1.8 MZR with 115 PS or the 2.0 litre MZR with 146 PS. The efficient common-rail turbo diesel variants are both 2.0 litre MZ-CD units with either 110 or 143 PS. Transmission is available as five or six speed manual on selected models.
Trim levels start with the well specced base level TS which includes air-conditioning and CD player with MP3 Aux Input. Next up in the range is the TS2, then the Sport and at the top of the range is the Sport Nav. The Sport Nav features 17 inch alloy wheels, Sports styling, rear parking camera and a DVD satellite navigation system.
