The Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon is an executive-size car first introduced in 1993. Despite strong competition from rivals such as the Saab 9-5 Saloon, Volvo S80 and Audi A6 Saloon, the E-Class Saloon has proved immensely popular and the latest version was unveiled at the 2009 Geneva Motor Show.
The eye-catching design of the new E-Class Saloon emphasises the vehicle’s muscular and athletic feel. With slightly larger dimensions than its predecessor, an extended wheelbase and range of subtle touches such as the arrow shape on the boot lids upper edge all come together to create a distinguished, elegant air. Inside, build quality and finishes are flawless throughout and a wide range of design options lets you personalise the cabin to suit your tastes.
The E-Class Saloon offers a range of diesel engines, all BlueEFFICIENCY-optimised to minimise fuel consumption and CO2 emissions. A choice of three 4-cylinder units includes the E 200 CDI, E 220 CDI and the E 250 CDI. For those who crave more muscular performance, the 6-cylinder E 350 CDI can achieve 0 – 62 mph in 6.9 seconds yet still achieves 40.9 mpg combined.
Trim levels include the SE, Avantgarde and Sport. SE standard features include Parktronic with Advanced Parking Guidance, Bluetooth® interface for hands-free telephony and heated front seats. The Avantgarde is understated luxury with Black Ash wood trim and sumptuous leather upholstery throughout. The Sport model is a very different beast with AMG bodystyling and 18” AMG wheels accentuating the E-Class Saloon’s muscular looks.
