The Mercedes-Benz SL is a roadster manufactured since 1954. The SL received a facelift in 2008 to rival similar models such as the Audi A5 Cabriolet, BMW M3 Convertible and Jaguar XK Convertible. The latest SL model features a new, more aggressive front end reflecting Mercedes' new design philosophy, with a pair of long powerdomes on the bonnet and a single-bar grille replacing the old three-bar effort. Improvements have also been made on the engines.
The SL-Class motorsport heritage is clear from any angle. Every detail of the SL’s design suggests speed, power and agility – from the widened radiator grille with single louvre to the reshaped headlights and new exterior mirrors with arrow-shaped LED indicators. Exceptional ergonomics and high-quality materials are hallmarks of the SL-Class’s interior. The stylish cabin, inspired by the racing car, also boasts comfort and luxury. Features include a distinctive new 3D instrument cluster with needles in the six o’clock position and a sporty new 3-spoke multi-function steering wheel with matt chrome insert.
Engine and trim options include the SL 300, SL 350, SL 500, SL 600, SL 63 AMG and SL 65 AMG. The 3.0 litre V6 engine in the SL 300 produces an impressive output of 231 hp and 300Nm of torque, ensuring an exhilarating drive. The twin turbo V12 powerplant in the SL 600 boasts an impressive power output of 517hp and surges from 0-62mph in an amazing 4.5 seconds. The SL 65 AMG houses the most powerful engine in the range, with its V12 bi-turbo producing a staggering output of 612hp and an astonishing 1000Nm of torque.
