In 2005, MINI introduced a convertible model to its range and was initially available in One, Cooper and Cooper S versions. More recently a Sidewalk model has been introduced. The car shares the same cheeky styling but features a modern powered folding canvas roof that can be fully opened or partially opened to create a sunroof. Rear passengers are considered and 2 small powered windows are provided which lower automatically when the hood is operated. Don’t think that the canvas roof will make the car cold in the winter; it is made from a heavy weight cloth with many layers of insulation and is fitted with a proper heated rear window.
As with other models in the MINI range, the individual items options list is vast and just goes on and on, however to make things easier, option packages are available, namely Salt, Pepper and Chilli for the One, Cooper and Cooper S models respectively. Engine options are restricted to the 1.6litre 16v unit with 90 BHP available in the MINI One, and 115BHP in the Cooper and Cooper S.
The 3 convertible models are also available with the Sidewalk package. This was introduced in 2007 and consist of a large package of extras. These include 17” alloys, leather interior, floor mats and metallic paint. Also air conditioning, sporty seats, stability control, fancy interior lighting plus much much more.
Its closest rivals are the VW Beetle Cabriolet, Daihatsu Copen and the Peugeot Coupe Cabriolet.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
