The Colt name has been around since the 1960's in various forms. The most recent was released in 2003 and is available as a three or five-door hatchback. This stylish and highly desirable model features class-leading interior space, nippy handling and world-beating reliability. The Colt is generously equipped and all models feature central locking, alloy wheels, radio/CD stereo system with auxiliary input, ‘follow me home’ lights, colour-coded bumpers and immobiliser as standard. There is also a wide array of safety equipment such as driver and passenger front airbags, anti-lock brakes with electronic brake force distribution, Emergency Stop Signal System and Isofix child seat fittings which give the Colt a 4-star Euro NCAP crash safety rating. The Colt's main rivals are the Ford Fiesta, Nissan Note and Honda Jazz.
Colt models are available with a choice of three engines – the 3-cylinder 1.1-litre, 4-cylinder 1.3-litre and 1.5 litre turbo with 147 bhp. The 1.3 is also available with Mitsubishi's advanced ClearTec technology which has numerous energy saving features including stop-start, low resistance tyres and improved engine efficiency. This results in low emissions and improved fuel economy which means that the Colt 1.3 ClearTec falls into one of the lowest tax brackets and costs just £35 for one years road tax. The Colt is fitted with a five-speed manual gearbox as standard across with the option of AllShift – a six-speed Automated Manual Transmission on selected models.
Trim levels start with the CZ1, then the CZ2 and top of the range is the CZ3 with leather interior, air-conditioning and 16 inch alloy wheels.
