BMW sign up to the new scrappage scheme implemented by the British government.
Along with many other manufacturers BMW sign up to the new scrappage scheme where old cars are scrapped and up to £2000 is contributed to a new car. The government have promised to pay £1,000 while the manufacturer is required to stump up the other £1,000.
Some makers were dubious about making these cuts but BMW have jumped straight on board. BMW has a long established recycling network to ensure that scrapped cars are handled responsibly before this scheme.
The Authorised Treatment Facilities, operated by ‘Autogreen’, will ensure that these vehicles will be treated and recycled correctly.
The scheme will be available on both BMW and Mini vehicles allowing customers to make some exceptional savings. BMW suggest that cars such as the BMW 116i Sport now become even more enticing.
The BMW 116i has class-leading economy and low CO2 emissions and, like all other EfficientDynamic-equipped BMWs, makes excellent financial sense too. A zero to 62mph time of 9.8 seconds and output of 122hp results in a car that is also fun to drive.
Originally it was marketed at £17,220 On-The-Road, but with the scrappage scheme this figure drops down to just £15,220.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
