Official sales figures released by the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders have revealed an impressive performance by Ford this year.
Ford was the overall sales leader in July 2010, with 18,442 registrations over the month, and 176,792 for the year to date. It also led in retail car sales, with a share of 12.1% in July; an improvement of 1.0 percentage points on last year's total.
The popularity of the Ford Fiesta has played a large part in this achievement: the Fiesta was the overall UK best seller in July, and for the year so far. Meanwhile, the Ford Focus held onto its second place in the sales chart for registrations to the end of July.
Commercial vehicle (CV) sales were also up, with the Ford Transit leading the way in the medium CV sector. The Transit's sales and market share had increased for July and for 2010 so far.
These figures reflect the success of Ford's new pricing strategy, which came into effect in July 2010 across its passenger car range, and saw Ford reducing its official recommended list prices on medium and small cars.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
