There was a time in the UK when buying a car meant a certain degree of uncertainty, most notably around the subject of reliability. Will the car start on a damp morning? Will things start to drop off after a couple years? Will the transmission fail after just a few thousand miles?
Thankfully, advances in technology and engineering have meant that unreliability is no longer the big issue it was and this is highlighted in no better way than the recent improvements made to warranty packages. Whereas in the past, a standard one-year warranty was perhaps the norm, today’s consumers have come to expect a standard three-year warranty, with breakdown cover thrown in.
Recently however, the warranty packages have become a key battlefield for motor manufacturers, a game of top trumps over who can deliver the best cover. Very soon you can expect young children to be comparing length of warranty alongside BHP, 0-60 times and top speed!
Chevrolet has now joined the game of top trumps by unveiling its own 5-Year Promise. As well as the standard warranty and breakdown cover, customers will also benefit from free servicing, free annual vehicle health checks and free MOT test cover until the car is five years old. That’s quite some promise.
Chevrolet claims that this is the UK’s best-ever combined warranty and aftersales package and we’d find it hard to argue. The 5-Year Promise is available to all retail customers and covers the entire range, including the newly launched Spark supermini and Cruze saloon.
It is five years since Chevrolet arrived in the UK and with new models being announced at the Paris Motor Show in September, there are many reasons to celebrate at Chevrolet. High fives all round then?

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
