Nissan crown Top Gun driver of 2009 as term ends in Nissan Race Academy 2009.
This isn’t about Maverick and does not contain any dodgy moustaches but there was some serious competition for the final places.
The Nissan Race Academy featured over 600 competitors racing in different heats with the winners fighting it out in the grand final. Set up to both excite and educate the drivers of Nissan’s high performance models, the Race Academy opened its doors free of charge to buyers of both 370Z and GT-R models.
Owner of Midlands Skip Hire, Craig Currie from Newark, has taken the top podium position in Nissan’s nail-biting Race Academy final. Craig bought a GT-R in May gaining entry to the Academy but Craig’s no stranger to the track as he is already a keen bike racer, taking part in the 600 Supersport and Superstock series.
After coming top on his qualifying day, Craig’s entry to the final was guaranteed. Expecting just a nice day out at Silverstone Craig made it through to the semi-finals and then went on to become the overall winner. And the intensive training has come at the perfect moment for Craig.
He can’t wait to “get stuck in and have a good race”, and is keen to make the transition from bikes to cars.
What better start to a four-wheeled competition career than a full race season in the Dunlop Sport Maxx Cup driving a specially prepared Nissan 370Z?

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
