The British Police are costing the taxpayer millions in charges for filling up with the wrong fuel.
Unlike the MPs dishonesty, the Police in the UK are running up millions of pounds worth of bills from nothing but their sheer stupidity.
Over three years the UK police have recorded 4,709 cases of police men and women filling up with the wrong fuel. Averaged out that amounts to four cars a day!
The cost of this is estimated to be around £6,500 a week. Each time the wrong fuel is added, the very expensive fuel has to be drained, and in many cases engines have to be repaired.
According to the Mirror, one force, The Met, had four times as expensive a problem as any other group, with £194,212 in damage over three years. In one year alone, the pump-challenged bunch had 287 erroneous re-fuels from its 6,500 unit fleet at a taxpayer cost of £84,992.
A group called TaxPayers' Alliance demanded fuelling info under the Freedom of Information act from 52 forces in the UK. Eight forces rejected the request, and four more didn't respond. The public action group poured over data over a four month period to come up with the staggering sum of bungled fill-ups.
TaxPayers' Alliance chief Matthew Elliott doesn't mince words when talking about the size and scope of the fuel problem.
"Every car damaged is thousands of pounds diverted away from the fight against crime. One would hope our police were more on the ball."
Many different forces have tried techniques to prevent this from occurring such as North Wales adding DIESEL stickers to the fuel cap. This still didn’t quit work with 39 police officers still ignoring the signs.
The only force that seems to have almost stamped it out is Humberside. It doesn’t trust any of its staff so all vehicles are petrol powered. Despite this one numpty still filled up with diesel, costing the public £51. (Source: AutoBlog)

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
