Following the success of the saloon model, Chevrolet has announced the introduction of a new 5-door Chevrolet Cruze hatchback model.
The all-new 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show later this month, boasting a striking new design, 5-star NCAP safety rating and impressive drive dynamics.
Since its launch in 2009, the Cruze saloon has become one of the most popular compact saloons on the market, winning a host of awards including the AUTOBEST car of 2010. The latest Cruze hatchback model has been designed to offer customers more choice and an alternative body style to the traditional saloon.
Hatchback Design:
The new Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback boasts an attractive sweeping coupe roofline with short overhangs at the front and rear. The new model has been built using a new body-frame integral system (BFI), resulting in high levels of stability and solidity. The hatchback model is also instantly recognisable, boasting the same dynamic 'stance' as the saloon model.
Versatility and Space:
The 2011 Chevrolet Cruze Hatchback is packed with space saving features, offering greater versatility when needed. The cargo capacity is an impressive 400 litres and the new model will also feature 60/40 split rear seating for extra space.
Engines & Transmissions:
Although Chevrolet haven’t released any official details of the engine line-up for the new 2011 Cruze Hatchback, it is expected that the new model will get the same market-specific engine and transmission options currently offered with the Cruze Saloon.
Wayne Brannon, president and managing director of Chevrolet Europe, is excited by the arrival of the new Hatchback model: "Cruze is turning out to be a real success story. We are selling it in 70 countries around the world and it has recently surpassed the Aveo as our top selling passenger car nameplate globally.
"Hatchbacks play a critical role in many markets. The total compact segment in Europe represents around 4.8 million units which is over a quarter of the total market, with hatchbacks representing around 65% of that volume. We therefore expect to see increased business in a number of regions, while sending out a signal that Chevrolet is now a serious mainstream player in Europe."
The new Chevrolet Cruze 5-door hatchback will go on sale across Europe mid 2011 with prices announced nearer the launch date. A show car version of the new model will also make its debut at the Paris Motor Show on 30th September.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
