Following the success of the sporty RS, Ford has introduced a new high-performance, limited edition RS500 model – the ultimate Ford driving machine for serious car enthusiasts.
The powerful Ford RS500 boasts a mighty 350 PS 2.5 litre engine & a new sporty, dramatic design. It’s also strictly limited to 500 individually-numbered vehicles with 101 models available in the UK.
So, what can we expect from the new beast? Well, from the outside, the new Focus RS500 boasts a sporty, dramatic appearance with its unique matt black 'foil' paint finish and matching 19’’ alloy wheels.
Small flashes of colour are visible around the vehicle including red brake calipers, blue RS badges and a special blue and red RS500 badge on the tailgate.
Inside, a series of special features have been added to the new RS500 including a metal plaque on the centre console which displays the car’s limited edition number and red stitching on the leather steering wheel, door trims, gear lever and floor mats. Customers will also have the option to add bespoke Recaro front sports seats in full red leather.
Under the bonnet, the muscular 2.5 litre engine boasts 350 PS and produces 15% more power than the standard Focus RS. Torque has been increased from 440 to 460Nm and a number of enhancements have also been made to improve the engine’s breathing and combustion.
Ford claim that initial performance figures for Focus RS500 indicate that it achieves 0-100km/h in 5.6 seconds, with a top speed similar to the 263 km/h in the standard RS.
All Focus RS500 vehicles are equipped to a high-spec as standard including dual-zone automatic climate control, heated windscreen, rear parking sensors, automatic headlight, Ford key-free start, enhanced connectivity with Bluetooth®, voice control and USB port and Recaro sports front seats with partial leather trim.
“We believe that customers lucky enough to secure one of the limited edition Focus RS500 models will be getting a real collectors item,” said Joe Bakaj, Ford of Europe's vice president for Product Development. “From its stunning looks, to its immense driver appeal and its complete specification, the Focus RS500 provides enthusiasts with the ultimate performance Ford for the road.”
The new Focus RS500 makes its debut at the 2010 Leipzig Motor Show in Germany on April 9.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
