The all-new Kia Optima made its world debut at the New York Auto Show this week.
The sleek new saloon boasts a stunning new design, exceptional levels of style and comfort as well as two new petrol and diesel engines, making it the most powerful Kia saloon ever.
Sleek and Streamlined Exterior
Boasting a completely new design language for Kia, the new Optima will replace the Magentis in the UK line-up. It’s bold, athletic and sporty exterior is based on an all-new midsize platform which is longer, wider and lower than the existing Magentis. The Optima will also offer numerous exterior features as standard including dual exhausts, solar glass and indicators on the wing mirrors.
Depending on the trim level, fog lights, heated exterior mirrors, exterior chrome or body-colour door handles, 18-inch alloy wheels and LED rear lights will be available, creating a true performance look. Kia also plan to release a hybrid version of the Optima in 2011, although this particular model will only be available in the North America market.
Luxurious High Equipped Interior
The interior of the new Kia Optima has been designed with comfort, luxury and practicability in mind. The instrument panel, gear lever and controls are all within easy reach of the driver whilst the optional glass panoramic sunroof provides an open-air feeling.
To aid passenger comfort, all seats in the Kia Optima boast a new lean, ergonomic seat design. Modern features such as six-way adjustable driver’s seat with power lumbar support, illuminated vanity mirrors and a trip computer are also offered as standard to further enhance the cabin’s luxurious qualities.
A high quality ‘Dimension’ audio system with AM/FM/CD and MP3 compatibility and Bluetooth connectivity with steering wheel-mounted voice activation controls will be offered on all Optima models. Optional features include tilt/telescopic steering column, power door locks, power windows, sun visor extension and an air-conditioned glove box.
Class-Leading Efficient and Powerful Engines
In the UK, the new Optima will be available with a choice of 2.0-litre CVVL petrol and 1.7-litre VGT turbo-diesel engines with six speed manual or automatic transmission. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine boasts 278PS making it the most powerful Kia saloon ever. Automatic transmission-equipped Optima cars will also feature cruise control and Kia’s ‘Active Eco System’ indicator to assist with fuel efficient driving.
The new Kia Optima hits UK showrooms in 2011. Exact trim, equipment and pricing for the new sleek, saloon is expected to be announced closer to launch.

There are many practical reasons to leasing a car rather than buying one. Car leasing offers lower monthly payments, lower initial deposit, road tax and breakdown recovery. You also have the opportunity to drive a new car every two or three years and all vehicles include the standard manufacturer’s warranty.
Our leasing deals are powered by Nationwide Vehicle Contracts.
