
The new Mazda6 has passed the Euro NCAP tests with flying colours getting the maximum five stars.
NEW cars in Europe have to undergo the formal safety tests provided by Euro NCAP. In a bid to raise standards this organisation have recently raised the bar making the tests that little bit harder.
In 2009 the new assessment system awards and overall score based on four categories:
Considering that the Mazda6 is Mazda’s first model tested under the revised evaluation framework it makes the five-star result all the more impressive. Seita Kanai, Mazda’s Senior Managing Executive Officer in charge of R&D, said
“Mazda6’s maximum safety rating from Euro NCAP is a reflection of the progress Mazda has made in harmonizing driving pleasure with safety and environmental performance under the ‘Sustainable Zoom-Zoom’ plan. Going forward, Mazda will strive to fulfil our corporate social responsibilities by further advancing our eco-friendly and safety technologies.”
